I was riding along a piece of singletrack and heard a loud metallic pop and thought the chain had failed, very similar sound. After assessing the drive line I wobbled the rear wheel latterly and noticed play in the rear swing arm. Did a trail side a bolt check and found the 25Nm main pivot bolt above the BB was loose and wouldn't tighten. Stuffed about with it for a minute then got that sinking feeling that thats what the noise was, pulled it out and found the end was as I had feared.
The opposing end's threads are now in the other side of the swing arm. Thats going to be fun to get out, might be a job for my LBS once I get the replacement bolt.

WOO HOO, FREE FIX!!!
Sent the pic and an email to Canyon in Melbourne this morning and just received the DHL postage info for a replacement pivot bolt free of charge. I can either tackle the removal of the snapped off part in the swing arm myself or send it to a shop and Canyon will reimburse the labour charge.
Should have the bolt tomorrow or Friday.

Re: Your ride today, yesterday....
Having found out that I didn't actually have a time trial on Sunday (contrary to what my calendar was telling me) I headed out on Sunday morning for a spin in the hills. 95ish km all up. very nice.

Nice work CLP . Looks like a great ride . I've been riding to work at Bondi Junction three to four times a week . Ninety five kilometre round trip and some nice little climbs thrown in to make it interesting . Great weather for riding in Sydney but a bit windy sometimes in the afternoons .

Got my lazy arse out of bed and went for a ride yesterday morning. Started off a bit cool, but turned in to a really nice morning. Interesting seeing some of the areas that had been impacted by the recent floods and landslides.

Re: Your ride today, yesterday....
Spent yesterday doing some lazy riding out at Fox Creek with Escapegoat Adventures
They wanted to test out their new trailer vs one of their existing ones so held a $20 shuttle day. As many runs as you want from 10am to 4:30pm.
As it turned out you could beat the bus back down the hill and rack up for another run straight away and get two runs in every 30 odd mins.
Was a top day out, 7 descents without having to climb back up that hill once was pretty darn good.

Ian from Escapegoat is good value. we had him as our mechanic on one of our Outback Odysseys. Not sure that he enjoyed the experience, with that many trail newbies asking basic questionsKNAPPO wrote:Spent yesterday doing some lazy riding out at Fox Creek with Escapegoat Adventures

Re: Your ride today, yesterday....
There's a first time for everything.
Ive never felt completely comfortable in the air but today I managed to nail the entire Forestbrook trail at Kersbrook on my 4th attempt.
First two runs I rolled around all the gap jumps, 3rd atempt I almost ate it into two trees on one of the larger gaps mid trail.
4th attempt which is the main run in this video I nailed all the gaps and hit the road gap at the 4:11 mark. Biggest drop ive ever done, landing 4 bike lengths form take off. One of the guys with us reshaped the last jump at 4:16 so you could hit it fast, managed to land 6 bike lengths down the trail. Felt gooood to get that monkey off my back.

Re: Your ride today, yesterday....
Last day of the year, and finally some reasonable weather in Adelaide, so I figured I might as well head out for a spin. No real plan on this one as i headed out there door. Though I was trying to keep the ride to around 3 hours. First mistake was realised soon after leaving the house when i realised i forgot to grab anything to eat.

Looked like a lot of people had the same idea as there were a massive number out there Awesome to see.
No PRs were intended to be harmed, though it looked like i might have beaten a couple, mostly on downhill segments.
Happy new year everyone

Re: Your ride today, yesterday....
Hot day forecast in Adelaide, but also an itch to get out and ride.
Earlier than usual start for me
I had a rough idea where I wanted to go, but maybe underestimated the time required or my energy levels. With the heat increasing, I cut it a bit short. On the up side, I climbed a few roads that I had never done before and I had a magic descent down Montecute Rd.

Re: Your ride today, yesterday....
Glad I had this on yesterday... Cracked the foam behind the C in the Canyon sticker so this is going straight to the shed wall and retired.
Having a shit house year on the bike so far...
At least I had the chin bar on and it saved me from serious injury, bit banged up but ill live to ride another day.

Hope you're ok and you haven't damaged yourself or your bike too much!
