Got me some new CX wheels. Fulcrum Race Quattro CX.

Hopefully far less attractive to Sticks and derailleurs and prone to running true. Just need to work out whether I go to the trouble of setting them up as tubeless or not.. funtimes :)

I got myself a rack.

Now I can throw the kids bikes in the back, mine on top and take them places to ride.
Really looking forward to a cruise down the beach, taking them to the Ansteys Hill quarry loop and a few other placed on my list.

In 3 weeks Saturday morning swimming is going to finish up so instead of renewing we are going to go riding every Saturday morning for a while for something different.

I cant park in my garage so this will only every be an issue on the open road.
I plan on measuring the clearance so I know what I can fit under. Having said that, the bars are a long way off the ground!

I've come close to doing this just the one time. On the way over to Lorne the first time. Suspect that would have ruined the trip pretty quickly!

Semi bike related.. I printed out this nifty thing:

A GoPro wrench :)
Useful for when you're trying to tighten your camera mount and frickin' thing still keeps moving :)

Whoohooo. The only small issue I see with them is the same as the ones I got made. White under the armpits. I sweat like a hooker in a confessional, so they tend to get shabby. :)

Interesting Carl. Single or dual side? Did you look at the Powertap pedal power meters?

I've been fairly keen on the Powertap P1 for quite a while, mainly due to the easier install process, but currently noone has them. They also cost a bit. Not sure why, but the price put me off a little (much like the dual sided vector kits).

What you see there is a set of Vector 1s, Vector 1s RHS upgrade, and the Vector 1 to 2 upgrade. :)

The Vector 2 install is apparently much easier than the Vector 1, so that should help with swapping between bikes. On the downside, I may have made obsolete a bunch of Look blade pedals :(

So one issue i came across with the Vector install last night was that no instructions seemed to come with the RHS upgrade kit. They were supposed to, but none were present. Maybe that's why they were cheap?

Annoyingly, instructions online also seemed to be absent. :/ Ordinarily, this isn't really a problem, except in this case there wasn't any obvious way to pair the pedals. I stumbled upon the Garmin Vector updater software, which serves this purpose. yay. Software needs the ANT+ id of the pedals... which are now covered by the already installed pedal pods. I'm sure the need to make a note of these numbers would have been covered in the instructions :/ Anyway. I think i have it sorted now. Garmin 800 seems to be showing a power number, and a Left/Right split. I managed to catch a potential issue in that the Garmin 800 defaults to a crank length of 144.5mm rather than use the already stored value in the pedals. Apparently no such issue on the garmin 810 and above.

Looking forward to trying these bad boys out, but i think it'll have to wait until next week now. I'll also be looking forward to trying these out on the Kickr Snap and seeing how things compare.

I will be interested in the results.

Make sure you do a proper spindown and calibrate the pedals.

With the neo (claimed 1% accurate) and the powertap C1 powermeter, the power numbers are close, but the NEO still lags just a bit. Might get my finger out and graph it one day.

This is what happens when the Kick Snap isnt properly calibrated.

IN AC terms, it would be like getting out of the GTA and into the La ferarri.

You'd probably do ok on a CX bike :)

On a roadie, you might struggle initially with the riding position (ie, less upright). Nothing that a bit of practise wouldn't fix though :)

had my first ride on my Vector pedals today.. first one this morning didn't seem to go so well. The reported Left/Right power balance seemed to be well out of whack and skewed heavily to the right. My pedalling isn't perfect, but i can't imagine that i'm that comically unbalanced. I suspect that the pedals had moved/tightened during use and thrown out the calibration. Oddly though, the ride home this evening seemed to look ok, even though i didn't do a thing to fix it. <shrugs>

What do you use to log the data Norbs? I thought i had that side of things sorted with an android app (IPWatts) but it seems to have failed me. While it picks up the Kickr Snap, it doesn't seem to get the power data from it :/ Picks up both the PowerCal and the Vectors fine though.
