Oi if that's a swipe at MTB my first crash was at 70KPH and my second 40KPH. Was pretty rare for me to be in single digits.

It is too much to expect MTBers to understand simply logic I suppose.

I ride both and to be honest probably lean towards Road as my favourite. But I will say that Mountain Bikers seem to be way more laid back and just plain nice. Road Riders can be elitist c*nts!

Yeah whatever floats your boat I guess. I get the appeal of riding up through the hills etc but I cannot fathom why you'd want to ride on flat, straight busy roads in the middle of traffic. Is that really enjoyable? If you werent trying to keep fit, commuting or logging strava data... would you have gone for that ride?

Most of the time you have to ride straight roads to get to the hills.

I ride a lot of straight flat roads around here and still love it.

Any time I am on my bike I am usually enjoying myself. Why does that seem such a hard concept for you to accept?

I also enjoy mountain bike riding. I started doing that in 1989. I would hazard a guess I have done just as many hours as anyone here on a MTB. Jamo knows just how awesome the Blue Mountains are for MTB. I stopped because no matter what I did, I would hurt myself. So now I don't, and I don't miss it.

The whole roadie vs MTB vs track vs downhill thing shits me to tears. To infer inferiority based on the type of bike you ride is stupid. The occasional jest, fair enough, but there are too many people who bang on about it.

The ride Norbs showed was Norton Summit. There's only so many ways to get to the start of that climb.. all of them straight roads.

I do a fairly wide array of cycling, and i'm fairly certain that I could come up with negatives and positives for each.. What I definitely find is that improvements in one discipline invariably results in improvements in all the others.
