Custom Cycling Kit

Post by Vilante »

Has anyone had any dealings with this?

I need to get some jersey's and t-shirts made now to wear training and then I need full kit around the start of September.

Some of them seem super expensive so would like to start with a recommendation if possible :)

Cheers!

CuBeCyCl just got some done from http://www.bodytorque.com.au/

The quality is great. They arent cheap though. The Adelaide-Geelong jerseys were from the same people and it has worn really well.

DO NOT go with Cycling Express. The NPC I had done were super thin and stretched quickly.

Tell them I sent you. :)

Our 6am-ers uses SEIGHT, again not cheap but they do have pretty low minimums.

NP's we used to use https://www.champ-sys.com.au/ but at the time they were pretty restrictive with their min order requirements & bulk discounts.
However I believe since we moved away from them they restructured & relaxed some of their policies to be more competitive.
Might be worth a look too. ;)

Well I've had them all but ChampSys was a while ago now so they have probably changed their styles & fabrics.
It also depends what product you buy within each, as in recreation, competitor or pro style garments.
My simple opinion of each;
ChampSys - Higher end but not as durable as the others. Small (Euro style sizing). Pro type look & feel like SEIGHT below, Good to Great Quality dependent on the garment. Good to great comfort until the garment get older
SEIGHT - haven't worn it much, lack of riding since purchase but reports from 6am-ers are Excellent Quality, Great Comfort, more realistic (AUS) sizing, more Durable than ChampSys but not as much as some others which use recreational type fabrics. More Pro type look & feel than below (similar to CS), which isn't a bad thing even for recreational riding.
Body Torque - Can only comment on your CubeCycl jersey as that's all I have (no knicks), Excellent Quality, more recreation style, looser fit (AUS) sizing, slightly heavier fabric which should make it very durable.

We used http://www.owayo.co.uk for the old company kit. Decent, low price and low minimums.

Our cycling club has used Bioracer. Excellent kit (at least if you choose the pro-models).

This season we ordered from Inverse (http://www.inverseteams.com/en/collection/cycling/10) highly customisable, really nice fit and feel.

Most of the italians such as Castelli, Santini, Nalini, Sportfull have custom and semi-custom. Minimum order is typically 10 or 30.
Much cycling such kilometers.

I've got both Seight and Champion Systems.
My opinion is that the CS bib shorts are miles ahead in quality. They've changed their ordering process a bit, so it doesn't seem as restrictive. One issue is that they have so many options that you need to know what you want. Apparently, avoid the summer knicks as the side panel is mesh :o

With the fit, Champion Systems have Race and Club cut jerseys.. race is fairly tight while the Club cut is similar to the Seight jersey that I have.

While the Seight bibs were comfy, they always seemed a bit lightweight. The CS ones seem a little more robust, and have a double layer panel on the back, just in case you fall, so your arse isn't hanging out on display. Bibs have a range of options for the gripper tape, depending on your preference. CS also offer all the associated gear like jackets and wind vests.

Another one that you might be able to go for is Fiasco Ciclismo. They're the ones that made the Ride Adelaide kit that was recently described by a blogger of international renown as being "Pro as Fuck" :) Can't really argue with a review like that ;)

The problem with those fucking blogger guys is they are usually paid to comment.

Just got the final design and quote from Castelli for the company kit

We went with a design somewhere between full custom and semi custom, Aero race 4 jersey and inferno bibs - the price per item when ordering about 40 pieces was considerably lower than retail for the same gear.

Same would've been true with Santini and all the others (albeit with varying amounts of customization available; for some semi-custom means that you can change colors by panel from a pre-determined color palette and then slap on logos on pre-determined places, for others you have full choice of colors and placement of logos etc.)
Much cycling such kilometers.

Now that will be nice gear! I've inquired with them also.

I think that's where we'll end up, semi custom. We don't have enough numbers to spread the cost unfortunately.

We ended up going with Champ Systems. They've been great. Really sharp printing.

Thanks heaps for your advice guys!

The did much up 2 jersey's by sewing in the wrong side panels (as we did an orange and blue version) but said they'd replace them immediately.

We got some vests and polo shirts as well as some caps also. All good stuff.
