For Sale - Specialized Roubaix Pro SL3 2011

Post by Gizmo »

Well it's time to upgrade my bike however I need to sell my current one first. I'm asking around $1500. It's not long been serviced and the chain and rear cassette have been replaced and have low km's on them. Full Ultegra SL groupset however the shifters have some cosmetic marks on them which you can see in the pictures. It also comes with the Cateye trip computer.

I don't want to offend but do push bikes come any better than yours? What more can you do to make it any better apart from installing a mighty two stroke motor?

That is a nice looking bike.

Again not having a dig but doesn't your legs/heart/lungs etc determine how fast a bike goes ? The bearings and rolling resistance in the current bike would be near zero.

Just asking the question .

It is a very valid question Richo.

For a fat pleb like me, you wouldn't think it would make a difference, but it does. For the elite blokes, it would make a huge difference.

I went from a lower end aluminium bike to a full carbon bike and straight away went faster. A combination of lighter and stiffer and more aero. There was about 2.5 to 2kgs difference in weight, and for me, that is about a 2% drop in total weight. For the lighter guys, the percentage is much higher.

It is the combine affect of all these little things that really adds up. I am sure I could go quicker with a better set of wheels. But the thing that would make me faster than all of these things is if I dropped 10 kgs. :)

My new bike is over 4kg's lighter than my old one Richo, nearly 5, so you can absolutely feel that change. I get on the old girl now and it's like I'm twice as heavy.

My new wheels are making a difference too, mainly in rolling resistance, there is a definite advantage rolling down hills, I'm rolling past everyone. Surely that's going to help over 100's of km's, I need every hand I can get :)

Also, it looks cool and makes me want to ride more!

Giz will tell you too that his new bike is an aero bike so it will cut through the air better. That probably means more to a top level rider.

You mean you have grease and stuff in your bearings.. and there not meant to make noises.

I love BMC however the Giant is just better value for money. It comes with Ultegra Di2 and Carbon wheels for around 2k less than the BMC.
