You really need to be on top of the gear to hold high watts. Once your cadence drops below 80, you are fucked.KNAPPO wrote:W W indeed... I usually sit on 200-250/280W on the flat when im churning along so I was surprised to be at 199W up that darn hill.CLP wrote:303 Watts?

Actually, I don't know! While I'm wearing it, I'm not using the Garmin so I can't see the numbers. I might have to do that test. It'll be interesting, because another mate is likely to start using Zwift using a PowerCal. I know that the PowerCal was semi consistent with the Bushido output, though tended to be lower.norbs wrote:

Re: Zwift.
don't think that laptop even has a network port!
Seems like it's a known issue with these laptops. I've changed a setting or two on the router, so hopefully that clears it up in the short term. Hopefully i'll get something else set up soon that more permanent.

Just had my first blurt around Wattopia. Only did the flat course, but thus far i think i prefer that to the London course.

similar design to the BKool.norbs wrote:If you cant justify a Kickr, Miller did a review on a cheapy.
Only issue that I've heard of with this style of trainer is that once you get out of the saddle you're more likely to get tyre slip and your reported wattage goes all over the place. Pretty good if you can get one for $400 though. A mate of mine saw that and started looking. Can't find them anywhere near that price.

Re: Zwift.
So I got home from a 40km actual-reality ride and figured that would be enough for me yesterday. Miss V on the other hand decided that she might give Wattopia a go. She picked the Pretzel, because it was at the top of the list and so, she argued, must be the shortest course.
After her ride (she didn't do the full Pretzel) this was the conversation at Chateau CLP:
C: how was the Wattopia Climb?
V: It's fucked; you should have a go.
C: :o
So I got roped into having a crack at the climb. Have to say, they have the reality dialled in on this virtual world, having scored a puncture on the climb Pulled the bike off, patched the hole, put the bike back on, did a spin down calibration, and resumed. obviously not setting any records this time around! Mostly enjoyed it, though that final turn off at the top is a bitch!

Legs were complaining a fair bit this morning on the commute :o

Couldn't agree more. Wattopia is a much more enjoyable/varied ride.
