It looks like the landing gear nacelle is lighting off in this photo. I don't think the Warthog carries any stores on the nacelles. An optical illusion with the maverick on the adjacent pylon maybe?

First thing that came to mind was a flare or something?

I don't know enough about them TBH, but it's be a pretty strong illusion if it is...

That's going to be incredibly expensive to fix. The pressure hull is compromised. Apparently much of the forward fuselage is damaged to the point that the forward door no longer closes. Some are betting it might even be a write off. Meanwhile the airline is out of pocket on an aircraft which is only 18 months old.

Nice shot. Any MiG-25s still in service? The 2 seater was always weird with them - chucking the other guy in the nose rather than behind.

One thing I'd like to try and do soon is go to the Mach Loop in Wales. Various spots on the hillsides where you can sit and photograph the RAF training flights.

A guy I know in Sydney did that and his photos are stunning. I think he has a private album on Flickr he got so sick of his shots being ripped off.

He has a 600mm lens and in one shot you could see the pilot waving at the photographers.

not really a cool pic, but someone managed to get a shot of the plane that crashed at the airshow when it hit the ground. I can now kind of understand how the pilot survived.

That was a cool plane. There's a bunch of pics from when the prototype got taken out in a mid air collision too.

Never made service but indirectly led to so much development - MiG 25 was partly created to counter it then the F-15 to counter the MiG 25 threat.

Awesome Wobbles, was there any context around that shot? Like where is was, has it only just been found & how long it's been there?

Was a reddit grab, but looked into the picture and found an article with it.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... found.html
Is it the pilot? Bones and a parachute found near eerily preserved plane that crashed in Sahara desert 70 years ago
The 12 human bones were found on some rocks three miles from the wreckage
A piece of parachute and a metal button dated 1939 were found nearby
Flight Sergeant Dennis Copping crashed at the spot in 1942, and is thought to have wandered off into the desert
The perfectly preserved plane was found earlier this year by Polish oil exploration workers
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.
