I remember when this happened as Chris & the co-pilot Brendon were regulars on a flightsim podcast called FSBreak
Brendon at the time was studying for his PPL so also learned some very valuable lessons from this experience.
I see Chris now has another podcast called AviatorCast which I only discovered the other day & am still to listen to.
Very lucky!!!

EDIT:
Here's the FSBreak episode: http://www.fsbreak.net/podcast/2010/7/2 ... ences.html
Here's Chris's original blog post of the experience: http://www.flyaoamedia.com/aviation/my- ... s-a-pilot/

The great story behind the Vulcan raid on Port Stanley's runway in 1982.

Conventional bombing using an obsolete nuclear era bomber at long range.(Don't know why there's a Harrier on the YouTube frozen frame)

Hawker Sea Fury. Probably the best sounding aero engine ever:

The engine is a Bristol Centaurus two-row, 18 cylinder, air-cooled radial with sleeve valves instead of poppet valves and a supercharger. Output was about 2,500 hp.

What a mad video! The smoke was brilliant to show the vortexes that followed!

What a great sound that thing makes!

Hmm...Scottie likes!

Here's another one from the Royal Navy Historic Flight. This is the T20:

Spoiled slightly by a inconsiderate commentator...

The Sea Fury usually makes an appearance at Avalon but last time it was up with a whole bunch of other types. Unfortunately, due to the sleeve valve design, it is much quieter than say a Mustang so it can be hard to hear. This recording is probably a bit more representative of what it really sounds like. There is one called the Argonaut Sea Fury getting around the US show circuit with a Pratt & Whitney R2800 in it. Nice but not nearly as nice as a Centaurus.

The whistle of the supercharger always fascinates me.

Must admit I'm a fan of the Vampire, and liked it lining up behind... but then all was forgotten with those speed passes :)
