China's "Bunny" lunar rover has just set the record for the longest operational period for a rover on the Moon!

Sensational headline at best.. it moved for a month but now it is just a webcam on the moon.

They seem to be another SpaceX type private company. I think they are move focused on getting the general public into space briefly for the experience. SpaceX have some more ambitious plans.

infact, SpaceX have already successfully flown resusable rockets... but it's still a fantastic achievement, and I even got a little emotional watching them celebrate.

I can't imagine how pleased they were to find out it wasn't just a boring grey rock after all that effort, complexity, time and expertise to get there.

Our moon is rubbish in comparison. I wonder if we can swap them.

Get a rover on one of them. We've got loads on Mars now. I think it's time someone thought a bit bigger and landed elsewhere.

I'm just following the coverage of Brit Tim Peake who is going up to the ISS today (in a few minutes in fact) and the BBC posted this :)

Astronauts going to the Space Station follow a series of superstitions, procedures and etiquette:

-All astronauts that have flown from Baikonur cosmodrome since the 1970s have watched the filmThe White Sun of the Desert beforehand
-Following in Yuri Gagarin’s footsteps, every astronaut urinates on the back right-hand tyre of the bus that takes them to the cosmodrome
-Each crew member is spun on swivel chairs to prepare them for zero gravity
-It’s considered bad luck for astronauts to watch their rocket being rolled out to the launch pad, so they’re kept away. Once the rocket is in place, it’s blessed by a priest
-Astronauts hang a soft toy in their launch capsule. When the spacecraft reaches orbit, the toys float revealing they are now in weightlessness

I can't work out how much is tradition and how much superstition. It does imply Astronauts are the most superstitious scientists in the world.

Probably a bit of both.

I've decided I couldn't handle (not that I'd ever get the chance) going to the ISS. I'd have the worst panic attack of all time when the realisation set in that I couldn't just leave. Or open a window. I'd be freaked out. I really wouldn't wanna be freaked out. But I would be.

This is awesome, in the truest sense of the word.

I think Musk has said this particular rocket will go to a museum to which the cynic might wonder how confident they are that it's reusable. If you can't reuse it, it makes the whole exercise a little pointless doesn't it.

Anyway, still awesome. :)

Think they said that each first stage is about 16 million, and it uses about 200k of fuel for each launch so that is huge savings. As it would need to be rebuilt again from scratch.
