Kunos Simulazioni’s Licensing Project Manager, Marco Massarutto has announced that they will release the Audi Quattro S1 Group B rally car for Assetto Corsa as free content.
The announcement included a selection of in-game screenshots showcasing the meticulous attention to detail that has been put into the 3D model.
Keen observers will have noticed that the included screenshots also provide us with a glimpse of the recently announced fictitious Scottish track that in the near future will also become part of the AC track portfolio.
While not officially confirmed, it is hinted that the release is scheduled for February.

When previously Kunos Simulazioni provided a selection of Porsche SUV’s as free downloadable content, some members of the community showed themselves from their least attractive side.
While we are used to a great deal of negativity in the sim racing scene, we would have never expected to see a troll war started because a developer provides you with free additional content.
While announcing the Audi Quattro S1 Group B, it became clear that Marco still remembered the outrage and addressed the matter with a healthy amount of humor.
Marco Massarutto said "Let me apologize in advance if this time, the next free bonus content for Assetto Corsa that we are going to release will not be a SUV."
We are sure that the more rational members of the sim racing community will more than welcome this awesome rally monster to the AC stable.

Looks like Black Cat County, or any other generic arcade racer track to me.

After thrashing old school Spa this looks too wide to make it interesting in my opinion, no feeling of impending death!

Looks like it might have a tighter section through that town, then open country roads for the rest of it. Reminds me a bit of that old Lienz Festival track from rFactor, though that had the added interest of going up and down a mountain.

Could certainly do with some tighter corners to add challenge and overtaking possibilities. Maybe there will be a shorter layout around the town and this is the historic/classic layout.

Moving old ones doesn't matter. I guess the main issue is having single megathreads for each sim when they have whole subforums for them. Splitting things up a a bit more might make it easier for people to only read what they want to read.

Kunos Simulazioni’s Licensing manager Marco Massarutto posted some interesting development screenshots of the upcoming Highland track for Assetto Corsa.
The screenshots show us some work in progress screens of different locations on the track at various stages of development. This gives us a rough idea of the amount of work needed to finish a track project of this magnitude. Marco informs us that the entire track is modeled by just one person, which makes it even more impressive.

Today, Kunos Simulazioni released the Assetto Corsa Update V1.12 for the PC featuring some exciting new FREE bonus content.
This new update includes a fair amount of fixes and features further improving the popular racing simulator. Besides bringing the V10 tyre model to the remaining cars, the development team also added new and updated street, semi-slick, vintage, and race slicks tyres for all cars.
Furthermore, this release also includes the free Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 Group B Rally monster and the much anticipated fictional Highlands track. Both the Highlands track and the Audi Sport Quattro S1 E2 will also become available for the PS4 and Xbox One on a later date as part of the v 1.13 console update.

AUDI QUATTRO S1 E2
Introduced back in 1984, the Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 revolutionized rallying. Just like the other manufacturers, Audi used the lenient homologation requirements to create a new rally car. All the car maker needed for homologation was a production run of a mere 200 cars.
Blomqvist’s spectacular, sideways driving style suited the Audi Sport quattro perfectly. By flicking the tail out, the Swede overcame the natural understeer of the nose-heavy Audi. He won five of the twelve rounds and was crowned the 1984 World Champion. Mikkola and Roehrl also won a round, which was enough to clinch the constructor’s trophy.

HIGHLANDS LAYOUTS
Highlands – The original layout, 8152 meters long, filled with fast flowing paths with curves and several jumps.
Highlands Long – An extension of the original layout, 12191 meters long and has all the characteristics of the original layout. This layout features some slower curves, a fast series of left and right turns, after a passage between rocks and the distinctive 3km long “Cabhag straight”
Highlands Drift – A configuration born to create long powerslides with supercars and hypercars. At 5167 meters long, this layout features long, flat and smooth curves, perfect for holding a constant power slide. The “tower lùb”, guards the surroundings at the top of the hill.
Highlands Short – The shortest configuration, only 1714 meters, but based entirely inside the city. Incredibly intense and requires the concentration of a pro.
All four layouts share the same starting positions and pit lane, as well as the first corner and final 2 corners.

FIXES:
Improved and updated V10 tyre model for all cars available
Improved and updated cars handling and chassis balance and inertia for all cars available
Brake fade for all vintage cars
Improved tyre wear and tyre graining algorithms taking more into account the load operation for each tyre.
General bug fixes and corrections and improvements all around.
Fanatec LEDs and display now supported
