Steering sensitivity

Post by Big Kev »

My main problem with AC at the moment is I can't get my steering right.

My MSFF wheel turns about 15 degrees and the in-game wheel does a half lock.
No matter whether I set 40 or 1100 degree of rotation in the calibration screen, it's the same. So taking a simple 90deg corner only requires me to move my wheel about 1 inch!

This makes the cars extremely twitchy.

Any ideas?

Did some digging in the AC forums and found info about the controls.ini file and seem to have fixed it.

Immediately took half a second off a lap I'd done before :) so I think that's ok!

Steering sensitivity

Post by DexterPunk »

Kev I was having some of the exact some issues with the MS wheel, The discussion was even posted here somewhere. Somewhat resolved by buying a new wheel lol, but still don't particularly like using 900 degrees rotation, it's a lot of wheel work for not much result. I know that's how some cars are, but it seems so foreign racing a sim like that.

Thanks for that link, I'll check it out.

I always used to run LFS at 240, but have found I've adapted to AC with 900 now. The wheel movement in car is 1to1 with my wheel. Feels weird if it's moving faster than it should now.

But I agree in some ways Dex, there is certainly a lot more wheel work to catch slides and what not.

I did think about a new wheel until I saw the prices. Jeez, when I got my MSFF it was about 60 quid. There's hardly any under 200 now.
