Damn that's as cheap or maybe even cheaper than when I bought it as an Early Access release... It's a lot more polished now than back then too.

Fuck that, I'm going straight to the AC forums to complain!

I'll demand more free stuff as compensation.... Bunch of whiney bitches on the AC forums.

But then what's the price of a video card that'll play the thing very nicely?

Depends on your screen res, and your preferences, Wabbit.
If you are on a single HD screen then a modern ATI card will run it all right. If you're an nvidia fan, get a 970 if you want to be sure, altho probably a weaker card could run it too.
If you have something older, or your screen res is high, you might need/want to reduce eye candy - still raceable mind you.

Also: don't believe me, use google I'm sure you'll find more accurate tests on the matter. :)
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Well, with ATI you could get in cheaper, probably around $300 - but we all hate ATI, right? :)

Edit:
Actually, with a bit of search I run into this:

This card, the 750Ti, is less than half of the 970's price. (under $200) and seems to do all right.

A GTX 960 will run AC nicely if you only have a single monitor. They're around $300, with a few under that mark.

Thanks R8.

Also here's a GPU chart to help you put things in order a bit look for DX11 ones only, tho.

Heh, well I've actually booted my Windows PC again (still works, yay!). Anyways, my hardware details are...

CPU: 2.93Ghz i7 870 (Is this slow now? haha)
GPU: ATI 5970 (I'm guessing it's old and poo)
RAM: 8GB (of I can't remember ram specs)
HDD: RAIDed SSDs (Oh yeah fast, but wasted coin)
Monitor: 24" Dell Ultra tug, whocares really

:D Yes! I don't use it but all this Sim racing stuff hasn't got me wanting to scratch that itch again. I'll happily blame you blokes :P

I suspect you're on the limit Wabbit especially in the GFX department. But you should be able to run AC albeit with a lot of settings turned down, you card is DX11 compliant at least.
Even doing that I'd say just be prepared to run with some pretty avg FPS.

Just been offered a 760 to try, worth the test or man up and buy a big fatty new card?

Sorry for all the questions, I've been out of the game for so long and these card numbers mean shit to me.

Well tough questions to answer specifically Wabbit.
Yes you're CPU is long in the tooth & by today's standards if slow being sub 3Ghz but it is an i7 at least.
But you're GFX card is more limiting than your CPU at the moment. A GTX760 would help particularly with GFX settings & you should see a jump in FPS. But then you'll find you CPU will struggle in general with running the other aspects of the sim. It goes without saying that if you do change to the nvidia 760 to make sure you completely remove your old AMD/ATI GFX drivers.
Never say no to trying a newer faster anything in you PC would be my response. ;)

In comparison I have been using an AMD Quad running @ 3.5Ghz with a AMD (ATI) 7970 and find FPS in FNF & AACL multiplayer races as low as mid-40's & up to high 80's. Saying that it is usually smooth enough. :D

Thanks Duke and fair enough. I've tasked a mate of mine from work (benefits of being in an IT support related area I guess). He's thinking for roughly $800 I should be able to knock this over. Good points on the video card and CPU. Being a tech head has long past me sadly, however with you blokes and the dude at work I'm sure I'll have something worked out soon.

Last night I ordered a wheel, I've managed to win 4 races so far in pCARS on the PS4 with a bloody controller. Then I got all sentimental and looked through the old AAL threads... yep I'm keen again for a sim racing and to think I was doing so well in my little console land haha :)

Thanks everyone for the info!

I reckon that CPU would be enough to run multiplayer. It may be problematic in single player on larger grids.
Have you tried overclocking it a bit? That may prolong its life somewhat.
