Friday Night Fun incorprating league races?

After the chit chat last night, I thought I would throw it out there to gauge interest.

Like was discussed last night, we don't get enough people showing up on a Wednesday night, thus the lack of league racing this year.

But, it was suggested that we could run a league race every fortnight/month on a Friday night.

So before the admins start throwing ideas around, lets see a show of hands to see who would be interested?

The most likely format would be 8:30PM qualifying. 9PM to 10PM race (depending on what was decided, either 1 longer race or 2 shorter races). 10PM Celebrity challenge sort of stuff.

If we did it monthly, we could just pick say the last Friday of each month and have a 9 round series in the GT4s. Fortnightly, we would have to work out a couple of series. Not sure.

I like it. Personally I like that we can do these things as a group but due to life we can't always get together to race other than Friday nights. I know you get disappointed by numbers Norbs during the the week for events. But when the car and track combo are right, we always seem to break into some serious racing and start chasing lap times. I think doing it on a Friday night will also add a relaxed atmosphere to it. Yes there will be sheep stations on the table but a good laugh is bound to break out and maybe the odd restart or two if events go spectacularly wrong.

It also free's up Wed night for other things if we wish to do so. I know you are keen to try AMS so there's a Wed night option.

It leaves Tues night for XGN for those who want to do that.

It's one serious race every two weeks or monthly which ever way we go and I hope everyone who shows up on Friday nights has a red hot go. Don't feel like you're getting in the way. Have a race! I'm slower than normal due to my neck but I look forward to it as it's a great laugh and takes my mind off shit.

I think if there were a league race on Fridays, I'd turn up more often. Personally I think if the option is fortnightly or monthly, I'd prefer fortnightly. I think it's easier to forget a monthly date. Besides, if you pick a dud combo, you don't want to be stuck with it all year.

I'm in no matter what the idea. Still leaves Wednesday night for some of those special events you thought might be a good idea, we've usually got good numbers and we can finish with some normal programming on a Friday night too.

I'm thinking fortnightly as well.

I'd vote monthly, but I think it'd be better as some informal long races rather than a full-on league.

I like how Friday we experiment with new cars and tracks and I hope we don't ever lose that. I also like the rubbish chat that goes on

But having said that I think that fortnightly league races as per norbs suggestion is a good idea. I'd suggest 4 round leagues so its over in 2 months. I'd also suggest fun driveable cars (like the GT4's etc).

I have put up a server (Celebrity challenge server) for some testing. It has the 2 GT4 cars that we spoke of on Friday night. Silv 1967. If people could do some laps and drive both cars to see if they are close enough to include in a series.

Fortnightly seems to be winning out so far. I am happy with that.

The best thing is, with Stracker working again, collating points is a piece of piss. So there wont be a lot for the admins to do.

Maybe we can do a test run this week, just to try and settle on a format. Timed races will make it easier to get the timing right as well.

I would be keen for this, fortnightly has my vote. More racing the better, I've had too much time away from sim racing with my wheel breaking but that shouldn't be a problem for much longer as I will have it returned to me by mid week.

I think it will have a very relaxed feel to it as it will still be FNF and all the banter.

After watching the stadium trucks at Adelaide, we have to have a crack on a Wed night in AMS, if it's not a pain in the arse to run a server.

Both cars feels good and not much between them. The Maserati does seem more hungry on fuel though, so they'll be heavier I think.

I reckon I'd come back for Friday night league. Work and life just doesn't allow midweek racing anymore. I think this is an awesome idea!

Hopefully when I get past being crook I would be keen to have a go , while I'm here does anyone have the T3PA Thrustmaster pedals ? I can't brake for shit with them it's either not enough brakes or locking up with minimal brakes it drives me crazy.

Thinking about giving them the arse for something more reliable any ideas?
