I've had enough, I have given this game more than enough time to at least grab me in some way, but there is nothing rewarding or interesting about this game. The single player is a joke, with boring AI that string out into an evenly spaced line and have more grip available to them than the player does. All cars by default (even with the 'stable' setup) are stupidly oversteery, the way they step out at the slightest hint of a bump is pure stupid. The FFB is just terrible, that centre spring feeling numbs absolutely everything and makes things feel horrible.

I have yet to have left a session feeling anything other than frustration. Fuck this piece of shit

Bails, you can set the opponents so they do race the different cars in a given class. Just click on the opponents at the bottom and I'm pretty sure you can change it there.

So I've started my career in Ginetta's. Running AI at 85% gave me some good competition. I started 4th in my first race, nailed the start and P1 before T1 and controlled it all the way. It was bloody great fun and I got an invite to try a GT-4.

Best summary I have seen yet on Reddit.

One is a sim trying to be a game and the other is a game trying to be a sim. I would agree with that.

I have no idea how my GPU runs 100FPS at 50% in PC2 but it runs at 85% in AC. Same FPS lock.

LOL.

AC is the sim trying to be a game. So many bits of it that are fucked that people overlook because it is a sim. Nothing like entering the pits at 200kph at Monza in AC.

I think the rain in pC2 is broken again. It seems to take a long time before you start to lose grip, despite puddles being everywhere. This happened in the beat but I thought it was fixed.

I was doing this exact thing yesterday, and as much as his voice annoys me, GM pretty much comes to the same conclusion I did.

But god dam, anyone who says the graphics in AC are as good as PC2, just check the end of the video when they are side by side. AC looks like it has been bleached!

Ai strength balancing was giving me the shits last night.

I decided to stick with my Formula C series until I completed at least the USA series and move to a tin top, just had to muck about with brake balance and rear roll bars so the car wasn't evil to pull up and turn in... I flogged them in the first race so upped the Ai strength and aggressiveness to the point that I was having some good races and having to fight for pole.

I then unlocked a special event and thought ide give that a go and fuck me, the Ai were bastards!
I got the shits and quit for the night and when I was watching another Gamer Muscle video he touched on the crapshoot that the Ai seems to be in trying to strike a balance from series to series, car track combo to car track combo.

Sorry for the long post but please read the last paragraph if you don't want to read the rest.

So after a day of reflection I'm still of the same opinion after spending 2 hours last night and that is I'm glad I purchased.

Straight of the bat the FFB was informative & intuitive enough that I could feel & predict what the car was doing, that in itself is a huge change from v1.
The ability to set key/button bindings to the FFB volume & tone is one of the best features that more sims need to adopt.
I did play around a lot with the FFB modes, volume & tone finally settling on Raw with tone around 55-60 then adjust volume to suit. I could easily use Immersive but settled on Raw for now.
I didn't even try Jack Spade's custom FFB files, will do so tonight & over the weekend.

A big plus also for me was their triple screen support caters for different physical sizes of monitors & doesn't assume you have all the same type & size (c'mon iRacing get with the program).
As I have a centre 24" but side 23.6" screeens it means everything lines up as it should. The only other sim I know that has this option is rF2 & maybe AMS has it as well but I haven't checked.
As for FOV given I went through the whole triple screen setup I assumed my FOV was correct but will double check it tonight.

As for driving, I only drove 4 cars being the Radical SR3 & SR8 at Nurburgring before hitting the green hell in the SR8 then the Porsche 911 GT3 & finally the GT3RS. All were excellent in their own way. I actually got scared during a high speed crash in the SR8, this is the first sim to ever do that to me. I put it down to the extra immersion from the graphics as it is hands down the best looking sim to date. The sound is damn impressive too especially on a closed cockpit environment although I'm still not totally convinced there tyre squeal is realistic, it isn't really my taste but it serves its purpose well.

To the not so good but most of it is minor, very minor;
How can anyone control a car using the loose setup, worse is that it is the default setup of choice. Also I'm pretty sure it doesn't remember the last setup you used in each car if you end the session or change back after driving another car.
The HUD editor looked so confusing I didn't dare try to use it. In car I also didn't care for any HUD elements so turned it off. The bonus I saw was at least in the race cars I drove the dash has multiple pages that can be switched via a key binding to provide as much info as I need making the HUD redundant anyway.

Finally I'm very concerned how hard it is to get descent FPS, I'm keen to know how others here using triples are fairing. I understand that Nords would be quite taxing but even with clear weather & single car testing I was only seeing 50+FPS. Reading today SMS say that 60FPS is the bare minimum to ensure a smooth lag free experience, if that is the case I can't even consider racing Ai or online yet. Even turning down settings that would usually increase FPS made little difference last night. Is it just me who is experiencing this?

On triples with most things turned up I can get a solid 100FPS with hardly any issues.

I have no idea what hardware you are running or if you run the same res on all monitors. Is it a virtual 5760x1080 or some weird config?

See my post before, my system runs better on PC2 with its stunning graphics than it does on AC with its flat and bleached look, even with mods installed. And if I play AC with AI it drags it down further.

I jumped in to a MP server this arvo while I was killing time and found out why the safety system isnt all that great. Wet weather at Red Bull Ring. I mean pissing down. I started at the back due to missing qualifying. End of lap one I am up to 2nd due to the fact people dont seem to realise water on the track means braking early. Oh, and on that. T1 lap 2. I hit the brakes and get hit from behind by not 1, not 2 but 3 cars slam me into the wall then another car. Jesus. Car is damaged. Get back on track and get hit again. Engineer is screaming at me to pit. Engine blows up 30 seconds later. *sigh*

I'm still able to set standard triple 1080p res so 5760x1080p. Hardware is still the trusty i5 4690K 3.5GHz base clocked CPU with GTX970 GFX. I suspect I could do with more ram as I've only got 8GB but it's relatively fast at 2400MHz.
Thinking back I remember on Nurby Sprint / GP I may have been getting low 80 FPS so maybe Nords kills it, have you run that track yet?
Anyway night 2 is about to commence so lets see what I can figure out today... :D

Well, I gave PCars another shot and sorted out my FFB for a 10-lap GT A,B,C and D race at Indy Roadcourse.
4 random weather slots and 110 AI.
Dry racing was damn easy, aside from the fact that I couldn't see anything because the Z/28 Camaro has no lights for some reason...
Then I remembered the 4 weather slots as clear turned into fog, which became clear and then Heavy snow...

The AI reeled me in as they slowed down in the snow, meanwhile I was amazed that the puddle I was clipping to slide the car around the back hairpin had become a massive puddle in two laps, which saw me loose 3rd place to Rene Rast.

So far, so good, fix the dry AI and this could be the next GT Legends for me.

I am going to take a stab and say your problem is right there.

I will give Nords a run tomorrow, but I did drive it in beta, in the snow, in a Group A BMW. I dont recall FPS issues. I do recall observing a LOT of the track from odd angles.

Anyone else got a 970 based card running triples?

Yes I suspect you're correct as tonight both Nurby & Bathurst we not much better, then I reviewed the min specs on steam.
Funny thing is even turning a lot of the traditional FPS hog settings down doesn't make much difference so I suspect I'm CPU limited but then again the recommended specs states a GTX 1080 is the go = WTF!!!.
Oh well it'll have to do for now. :(

I have x2 3GB GTX 780's feeding my triples and an i7 4770 processor.

The only time ive experienced lowish frames was at Long Beach on lap 1 behind 16 ai and only when in Turn 6. Rest of the track held good frames. I have not run a FPS counter whilst playing tho as I haven't really found the need to, seems to play well enough on my system for me.

Havnt driven Nords in PC2 yet, did drive Bathurst quickly and cant really recall any issues.

Maybe run Afterburner and see what your CPU and GPU usage is Duke. Also memory usage I suppose. 11Gig of RAM on my graphics card, so no issue for me.

Oooooooo, thats a big call. It sure looks fun from your video.
Its one of my top 3 favourite cars in AC. Gonna have to give it a bash as ive only driven it in RallyX spec in PC2 so far.

Cheers norbs. Yep looks like I'm both CPU & GPU limited, as they are running at 100% most of the time. Switching to single screen I get 120-140fps.
Talking to RenZ we are going to look at overclocking especially the CPU. Even talking about delidding it too.
I'm also working on how I can ever afford a GTX 1080. FFS!!!

Yep I fell off my chair looking at prices today.

I'm seriously considering just running it in single screen as I bought it mainly for its offline career mode anyway & the eye candy it has. :D
