Feb 2007 Tournament rules and registration

Post by Bauer »

Hi guys

Welcome to "The AGGOT", the name we will give to any handicap stroke event we do.

below you will see a very basic set of rules for our ARSE tournaments. We aim to keep these simple to allow flexibility and provide the most fun while at the same time maintaining a structure to follow. To put it into racing terms, we want it to be more than a pick up race but dont feel the need to take it to a serious league race level. Kind of like an organised fun run if you will.

Should you have any questions, let us know. Should you have any 'what if' scenarios that we havent covered, ask away and we will keep the rulebook open as an ongoing project and deal with situations as they occur rather than spend a week catering for every possible scenario.

So if you will be available during the below times, sign up and have a go. We have intentionally made our first tourny very simple. To register for this series, simply post your below and include your Shot Online name.
All Tournament Rounds will consist of 18 holes.

Tournament course for this event will be Alfheim.

The Tournament will consist of 2 rounds played over consecutive weeks.
Round 1 opens February 9 and closes February 13
Round 2 opens February 16 and closes February 20

The Tournament Rounds must be played between Fridays and Tuesdays with rounds opening up on Friday morning and closing as late as we need to on Tuesday nights (all scores must be in by the time we get up on Wed morning)

Tournament Rounds must be played with another registered tournament player.

Results of your round are to be emailed to hbevis’@’internode.on.net upon completing your round. (so we can generate a bit of suspense) Please include your final score and the overall handicap you started the round with.

You may only do one 18 hole round per week for the event, however you may play further rounds during the week to act as scorer (or sledger) for a member who is yet to complete their round, but the first round you did will not be able to be updated due to a better score made later.

Should you exit the game during your Tournament Round, you will forfeit the tournament. Discos are an unfortunate part of online gaming, but the same rule will apply to everyone.

You may play your Tournament Rounds with 1,2 or 3 other players, however for the sake of time, don’t forget 18 holes with 4 players does take some time. Make sure you have it available before teeing off.

The shot clock setting is to be agreed on by the players. We suggest 60 seconds but if players on the night agree, a setting of 30 seconds for a faster game is ok.

There will be 2 leaderboards published by the Friday of the next round so you all know where you are at before teeing off on your next round

1 leaderboard will be based on Shot Online Handicap scores, the other will be a straight off the stick leaderboard. Line Honours if you will.

Sledging is strongly encouraged. We have a teamspeak room set up, feel free to use it, or if you prefer to type your sledges you can do that in game or on the forum provided by ARSE.

One thing when you say your handy cap before the round, is that your overall handy cap or the your handy cap just for that course

good question. the answer is your overall handicap. ie the handicap you see in your player screen when you join the game.

Ahhhh, good to see the ARSE spirit is alive and well.

Remember those HOT ARSE nights when you had sledge the crap out of the guy on his hotlap? :)

I'm in, though I may initially have to start with a temporary character until my original character is transferred to the international server. Or would you rather we stick with the one character for the entire tournament (I'm OK with that, if so)?

we did actually give it some thought and Im glad you like what we came up with. Most of us are sim racers and most of those probably sim race once a week. I know I try to.
So we figured allowing golfers to play their round on any 1 of 5 days covers any one with a league race to run. We needed a couple of days to get the leaderboards done and since mine and Haydyns league race night is a wednesday :) Friday to Tuesday suits best.
