LFS under *nix

Post by EzyRider »

Just doing some experimentation regarding LFS under Linux, using Wine. First off, yes it works, and even does ~50-60fps (!!!), but I'm getting a lot of wheel/pedal lag, and can't seem to remove the super wide dead zone on the wheel. (Wheel is a Microsux Sidewinder USB jobbie, detected and usable.) Another problem is lighting/shading glitches, which show up all the time.

Also, every so often, it locks up for a second or two, just enough to lose control of the car and slam into a wall at the most inopportune moment.

Anyone else done any testing with this, and if so, got any tweaking ideas? I'd like to test this under race conditions, just so I know that I can delete my Windoze partition any time I like if it all works smoothly.

Linux version: Kubuntu 6.10 (Debian kernel)
Video card: nVidia FX5600
RAM: 1.5Gb
Wine version: 0.9.30

Any help/thoughts/ideas welcomed.

I've given it a go and had mixed results... turn shadows off to stop the ground corrupting and fix a few other issues. I couldn't find settings to get the sound working and I couldn't get my dash working either.

Yeah, dash doesn't show up on mine either, but did manage to get the sound working, albeit with a touch of lag. I'll try it with shadows off and see how that goes for performance. Cheers mate.
