Buzzing the gears/rev limiters

Post by Gougoodthing »

I note that everyone has this option turned off (cant remember the exact term)

Does it make much difference, to

a: Acceleration
b: Deceleration? (assume not, but why would you have it not enabled on down shifts)
and

c: fuel economy?

Thanks guys.

I assume you mean throttle cut?

On a decent size track, Blackwood for example, in the tbo class you can save around 0.4 secs a lap.

!!!

Thats it, cheers.

Obviously this is at the danger of over revving, but thats surely on the way back down the gears.

I understand what this does on the way up, but what advantage/difference is there with this when going back a gear or three?

There is a different option for downshifting.
It's called 'throttle blip on downshift' - it just helps match the revs with the gearbox speed when changing down gears. - Hopefully preventing diff lock.

Not really needed, but I have it on.

Otherwise, you can 'blip' the throttle yourself :D

Be aware that the economy will suffer if you flatshift. In an AAL race with the LX6 round Fern Bay Green Reversed I managed an extra lap compared to the rest of the field simply due to the fact I manually lift with gear changes. Now it may not have equated to a whole laps worth of fuel but it certainly made a difference on what is a fairly long track.

With 'blip' set to off, you just don't goose it as much as it would normally if it were done automatically, and the car pulls up quicker :cyclops:
