population Nige. A team here couldnt afford to be successful without Govt funding
per head of population, sport here in Tas is very well received. Footy and V8's go gangbusters considering how many people live here. Cricket not so much but that is played in Hobart and run by Hobartians.
If Hawthorn keep doing what they are doing, then Ill be happy. When they are here they visit schools and kids in our hospitals etc. They play 4 games and get 12-16000 at the ground. At the moment it is worth their while. Make a team permanent here, I doubt they would survive.
Having said that I would have no issue with Hawthorn permanently relocating to Tassie and play the occasional home game at the MCG, but it would be commercial suicide.
