Telemetry

Post by ysu »

I thought it's time to look into this bit.
Some may not be aware, that there are two programs (I know of) out there capable of doing something with iRacing's telemetry output. I've found them yesterday :)

1) The telemetry HUD

Very nice, handy thing; it gives you split sector times (colored to show you faster/slower times), gives you an estimated best lap, gives you an offset time to show if your current lap is faster/slower, remembers your times at a combo....and I've seen a mini-map on one screeny, dunno how to switch that on, yet ;)
Easy to use out of the box.

2) iRacing Telemetry Viewer

This one logs the output, and you can load it up and plot nice graphs in a proggy callled DriftBox.
The DriftBox Tools app needs to be learned and set properly, and you can't just use it to gauge how you do on the spot; on the other hand this can help to analyse performance much better.
Not for beginners I reckon (not that there are many around here, hehe)

What I could not find out: how to run both?
One is a dll copied into the iR folder, the second is an app to run while the iR is running. It seems the second overrides the first, so I could not have hud and logging done at the same time.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?
