Re: Cycling - 107th Paris-Roubaix
How was the crash while they were in the forest, took out half the field.....
Tom Booden and Quickstep are looking good but i'd like to see Hincapie get up and win, he's in a good spot atm but Booden will have the pace on him in the sprint at the end...

The quick replay they showed looked like a women got hit by either a cyclist or a motorbike. She just flew into the road.

Yep I am pretty sure it was one of the French "Gendarme" Police on his motorbike on the footpath???
The winner will come from this newly formed lead group, some great names will fight this out.
If Boonen gets to the velodrome in the lead group it is his for the taking. Watch for the attacks to start anytime soon.

You reckon you could pump the pedals like that after 6:15 Flinty?
Well done to Boonen. Good result for Haussler too.

Mate those guys are super-human, I am in awe of their capability to hurt like that. You could see they were both so fatigued but they just keep pushing such a big gear.
It was an amazing finish, Boonen shows once he again he is more than a 1 dimensional rider. I tip he will win more "Queen of the Classics" and may break the record of most Paris-Roubaix wins by a single rider before his career finishes.
Feel sorry for Hushovd falling when he did, I reckon it would have been a different race if he could of stayed on Boonen's wheel, not sure if he could of beaten him but Boonen would have been worried if it came down to a 2-up sprint with Hushovd. But not to be.
by the way that motorcycle crash was not good, 16 injured. 3rd story: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?id= ... /apr13news
A couple more Spring Classics to go then not long after the Tour races begin, starting with the Giro d'Italia in May.
Did you see SBS will be doing 1/2 hour daily highlights this year, 1st time Aussies get to see something of it Prime-time, I am excited...

Re: Cycling - 107th Paris-Roubaix
I remember a fair while back doing a 350km weekend with a club. 200km Saturday and 150km Sunday. There were about 40 riders, and it was excellent. At the end of day 1 with about 7kms to go a group of blokes took off. I was about to give chase, on my mountain bike sporting high pressure road tyres, when one of the older guys I had been talking too told me it wasn't a good idea. Boy was he right. The 6 that went and raced to the end blew up badly on day 2. To watch those guys last night really bought home how physically fit they are. But more than that, how mentally tough they must be. To keep cruching those high gears when everything about you must be screaming stop, is an unbelievable effort.
