i've been following this chick for the last year and now because Jacko died(she was his guitarist for the tour he never did) she is getting a lot more exposure. But put simply she smokes on the guitar, plus she's hot, plus she's an aussie. Trifecta.

I found the solo's in her song sounded completely out of place. Almost as if shes just trying to sell songs by being pop'y and wanted to say yea and it has solos too....I shred!

i thought that when i first heard it to, but now i've heard it a few times on the radio it doesn't stand out. I just don't think we are used to hearing guitar solos on pop songs any more. Here's another one of her shredding it up.

She has oodles of talent (also kinda hot), but, I really dislike guitar playing that is so far off the original tune that it sounds nothing like it... if you cut out the start and finish, she could be playing any song and not MJ's Beat It. Yes I appreciate the talent involved, but just because you can doesn't mean you should or that it sounds good. That's just my opinion.

(reminds of Michael J Fox in Back to the Future when he plays Johnny be Good.)

Eddie Van Halen did the original solo. Most guitar players like to add a bit of their own flair when playing other peoples stuff. They tend to keep the general vibe of the solo but give it some of their own style.
