To anyone that has experience with 3ds max, is it possible to model the sun accurately, to an extent that it can take its realistic path through the sky, being able to set it for its mid winter path (ie when at its lowest) and cast shadown from objects? I've dabbled in 3ds max a few years ago and believe its possible to add the suns path, but unsure how accurate it is.
We are looking at a section which has a two story house next to it, and just want to try see how far the shadow will come over the section, and if it will block our sun, it doesnt look to be an issue at the moment, but want to get an idea of what it would be like in the middle of winter.
Any whizzes out there that could possibly help?

Yep, easy done. Go to systems, daylight system. There's an option to set your location there (not sure what it's like in latest version of max but in other 2011 Autodesk products you even get a google earth view to make it super accurate). Just remember to set your true north correctly (rotate the compass in the daylight system).
