iPhone automatic time adjust - WTF?

Post by DexterPunk »

My clock no longer automatically shows the right time... And this has nothing to do with DST etc. It's not an even hour out either way either. Its around 2 hours and 32 mins or something like that. It's been doing this for about a week. Only thing I can do is manually set the time. I've tried re-syncing, hard resets, messing around with phone settings and what not... Can't get anything to work. Someone somewhere in the interwebz world says that its to do with the mobile tower data, not the phone itself.. however I've asked people with the same phone, on the same network, who are standing right next to me if their phone time is right, and it is. Any ideas?

Oh and if you suggest buying a watch, I actually did that a couple of weeks back :D

drop it on the ground and stomp on it... that should make it better forever.

You could turn off the "set automatically" setting in Date & Time. Not a perfect solution, but at least it will be correct

Dexter, just a thought but maybe check your International settings under the General setting area, just in case.
Mine are;
Language = English
Region Format = Australia
Calendar = Gregorian

I did not think anybody would see the irony in taking time to fix a problem with an item that is supposed to save you time by making a function automatic that was never a problem until somebody wanted to try to make it automatic...

this seems to be the world we live in these days... :)

Yeah I can see the irony there. I guess it just comes down to the principal of the thing. It's not working how it's meant to, therefor I wanna fix it. Also my anal retentive attitude to precise, to the second, time... Doesn't help. My manually set time might be up to a minute off.

I guess a manually set time of 1 minute error is far greater an incovenience that that of a 2hour 32 minute error of an automatically set time... :D
