Finally back home. Phew.

As it turned out I left early enough from Melbourne yesterday to drop in home, feed the dogs, have a piss and head off to the airport to surprise the bride who was coming home after 4 weeks in Europe. 14 hours in the car yesterday. Another 3 this morning. Pretty tender today. Left hip is pretty bruised. Right knee is a bit swollen. Date is still red.

if you weren't going half speed to let me keep up things would have been a lot different. That's one thing did really like about the ride, getting the chance to do that. I made sure i had a good look around while up there in between heaving breaths.

I was sitting here tooling around in Excel trying to figure out some times from the GPS log. A work mate walked in and asked what i was doing. he sorted it in about 30 seconds! Fark me.

These are not exact, but they are close enough from what I could remember.


Melbourne to Werribee : 37.11kms 1:39:35 @ 22.49kph
Werribee Service centre to Highway Service centre : 15.95kms 0:43:33 @ 22.26kph (I dont think we counted a few kms between the Werribee stop and the service centre were Rod had a poo)
Highway SC to Outer Geelong (Where Rod left us) : 12.26kms 0:42:22 @ 17.51kph
Outer Geelong to Geelong Stop : 8.31kms 0:20:19 @24.93kph (Jesus that felt like longer than 20 minutes to me)
Geelong to Queenscliff : 34.17kms 1:26:10 @ 23.84kph (That includes a few minutes with Rods mum and dad at Point Lonsdale)
Sorrento to Dromana : 20.93kms 0:42:15 @ 29.9kph (Wind up the date time)
Dromana to Mount Martha : 5.92kms 0:14:04 @ 25.37kph (That photo of me with my head in my hands was at this stop. Flinty broke out the Snakes too!)
Mount martha to Mornington Servo : 15.98kms 0:33:24 @ 29.05kph
Mornington Servo to Frankston Maccas : 12.09kms 0:27:17 @26.87kph (When we left we thought we had a 20 minute break. It was over 40 minutes)
Frankston Maccas to Mordiallic : 15.87kms 0:33:53 @28.85kph (I am pretty sure that is when I broke physically)
Mordiallic to Finish : 30.55kms 1:24:07 @ 23.91kph (It was that leg that broke me mentally)

Rough totals: 210kms in 8h 46m 59s @23.91kph

It's time to put a bit of perspective on the ride and deflate some ego's around here.
Yes W00dsy beat norbs up the Westgate Bridge & yes norbs beat Flinty to the finish line but the true test is how hard was the ride for each bloke.

In all seriousness what these 2 blokes accomplished with the conditions we experienced was bloody amazing.
Here is a pic of a neat plugin I use in Sportstracks that shows the wind direction & strength in colours.
Still it doesn't really show the pain that the wind inflicted but you get the idea.

I dont have a heart rate monitor, my Garmin picked up on Happy Heads monitor. I did a quick pulse check on myself going up the Westgate and it was sitting on 75

i was reminded today while talking to Norbs of something that happened in the morning while waiting to head off. Flinty had his phone out and said 'hey check out the name of the wireless network i picked up' and it was called pissnshit. Norbs said 'yeah that's mine'

I would like to do it in nice weather. But to be honest, probably not. It was a pretty expensive weekend.

Been to see the doctor about my hip. This is what he wrote down for me. Sub-periosteal haematomas. Bone bruising. Never fucking heard of it. He said could be weeks before the soreness goes. Oh yipee. Fucking BMW driver cow.
