Any of you guys and girls ride dirt bikes or motards?
Currently in the process of freshing up my motard. Over the last week I have stripped it down to the frame and motor. Replaced the steering head and swing arm bearings, removed the clutch and checked the plates, replaced the oil filter with a steel one to allow better oil flow.
Tomorrow I start putting it back together, replacing the wiring with new and better quality wiring for the ignition, recharge and signal circuits.
In my prize I won a few weeks back I got new rubber thrown in, I swapped it for something more suited to my bike. Dunlop GPR12's. Never ridden on these tyres before so I will be curious. Replaced the wheel bearings, new seals, buffed the axles.
Pulling apart both sets of front forks and replacing oil and dust seals next week, new oil and changing to a heavier oil so I can get more adjustment from my forks.
Have changed my gearing from 14/47 to 15/47 for everyday use and my question is suggested gearing for racing?

Wiring is a little messy right now, heaps of work to do on this part of the bike. I have contemplated removing a majority of the wiring and putting all the circuits behind the headlight on an ICB. It would give me a lot more room, I just need to be sure I get it all correct before hitting the on switch.
The new rubber, will show when fitted as I have dressed it up a little.
The clutch cover finished, one of many parts now painted.
On top of the stuff I have done this week, recently I had made bark busters, axle sliders and all the corresponding brackets etc. I had some help using the mill at work, but the lathe was ok. Turned down the axle sliders from 60mm black nylon to 40mm. 8 mm booker rod, tapped the axle nuts and fed it through.
The barkbusters are aluminum bar, rolled and pressed to shape. I will make some handguards when I get the rest of this done.

So today I fitted the rear sprocket, chain and rear wheel. I think my spokes need to be relaced as the wheel was out on the indicators by 1.2mm. It's square but the axel sliders indicate a different measurement by that amount.

Not really mate. I am doing this on a tight budget. But it will still be fun to ride. Most of this is to get it ready for the track.
Of note is the chain, that photo was taken when the axel had not been fastened. Chain blocks aren't on either yet, they still need to be cleaned.
