New family car

Bought a new(ish) car again, this time for wifey and the family to safely go around.
It's a Nissan Murano Ti.

Plenty of space, comfortable luxurious interior...I like it.
Even the dog can travel with us in the boot, altho it remains to be seen how will he handle it...and I'll prolly need a tarp something in the boot for that, hehe.

It was a pretty good deal, 2011 model, 1yo, series3, got a few km's on the clock (46K) but otherwise in excellent (make that immaculate) condition.

Ugly as sin front end in my opinion but nice car otherwise. Has it got the auto tailgate? How's the boot space with a pram?

hehe, 46K is the kilometers, and $40K was the actual purchase price. (new car price is ~$60K)

The look is subjective, I don't mind it at all as far as a 'suv' goes - which is an Original Sin in the first place so...
The boot is spacious, the pram is in, then the pram insert is in next to it, and I can still put in the full shopping, no probs. Plus you can fold the rear chairs half or full for bigger stuff, it becomes totally level (this is fairly standard nowadays I think, I've looked at cx-range mazdas they were the same in this regard.

What I really enjoy is that everything is electric, including the boot door and the rear seats
It can also remember 2 different seat-and-mirror setup and recall it. Oh and the bose sound system isn't too shabby either.
Also a handy feature is the dual-zone aircon. We've already made good use of that one

But as usual it's SUV or rather UV... or just V to be honest. big V but there's nothing sporty about it. Yes the engine has 200kw but the 380 can leave this thing standing, and it's only ~100kgs lighter (which is bloody amazing!) It's just smooth and tall. Seating is very nice; there's no need to "climb in" you just sit in as it's level with your bum, and the car pulls the driver seat back when you stop the engine, hehe (also it's full leather) .

Fark, really? 40g? I thought they were cheaper than that. I always thought they were in the same market as outlanders and captivas and stuff. That kinda money is serious 4wd money, I personally would of went for a pathfinder if I was to spend that much but I guess if it's suv you want, then it's probably a bit too big.

We had a look at them when we got the x-trail, they were much nicer than i first thought. But they were considerably more expensive.

Yeah there are a lot of alternatives in this space. I've looked around quite a bit. I was thinking of the mazda very hard, the cx7 first, but the engine options were a turnoff, then the cx9 but it's really expensive, cx5 again, fails in the engine department - besides it's a bit smaller, too.

I did not want a 4wd, I'm not going out to off-roading, this has 4wd but it's on the side, really. It's just a lot of goodies, well presented and well put together for the price, that's all. It's a mid-suv, I think, by category. Eg the cx9 is definitely bigger.

Not sure a cx9 is much more expensive. Ive had two 9s and both fully kitted blue tooth tow bar mats tint and leather treatment cost me between 55 and 57k. Both were the luxury model. The Ti fully optioned is close to 60k...I assume you can add cash for mats and tints ect.... I'm not certain they re any cheaper and they are definitely smaller..

That said. Like the look inside of the Nissan..and they are certainly well equipped...might go check one out as my 9 is about due for replacement...

The new price is the same indeed, but I challenge you to find a 1yo cx9 around $40k...you'll have a hard time to find one around $50K.
Now this 40 was a stretched budget, I wanted to spend ~30 originally, but that put me into well used and scantly equipped cars and/or questionable safety, etc...well, I wanted below 30 but the businesses are going well lately so I've allowed myself to be dazzled by the luxury of this one
So any more than 40 was absolutely out of the picture. Maybe next time

Edit: oh yes, the sound is magnificent. It has a subwoofer in the center of the spare tyre, LOL!

Yep, the resale value of the 9 (well Mazda actually) and the fact they hold value is the reason I went that way originally. When you plan to keep them 2 years and you lease or cash out re a car allowance, you need that.
