The October edition of "Aeroplane" had a feature on a complete replica of an RFC R.E.8. There were no surviving examples of the 160hp RAF 4a air-cooled V12 engine so TVAL built their own. They had a good idea of what to do because they had already built the V8 version; the RAF 1a for their B.E.2 replica.
They have also built a new and fully operational Oberursel rotary engine.
