Word is, you start the pre-load. Pause and exit steam then copy the RO folder from the beta to the release and it "should" cut down on some of the download.

I've done it myself and will finish the download overnight.

I heard today that BF3 will only be available of EA's steam competitor, "Origin". Screw that.. I don't want to end up with 10 digital distribution platforms on my pc because every publisher wants their own. Sounds like their EULA is not making people happy either

Origin works well, and in some respect better than Steam. You only need it to install the game and patch it.

As for the EULA, it was a storm in a teacup that was resolved weeks ago.

In my experience EA's download and shop are both stuffed up big time, I'll try to keep away from it if there's a way.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

Red Orchestra 2 is 50% off on steam at the moment. Worth getting? Is there a single player game to it? or only really multi? Not really much of an online gamer these days.

The single player isnt much at all. I wouldnt buy it for that.

Multi is great fun though. Must get back in to it one day soon.

I grabbed it. Single player is interesting. My lack of fps playing lately has rendered me useless!

SP is just the MP maps played with a shocking AI "help". Not worth anything.

However, the game is one of the best in MP, IMHO. It can really shine there. But it also has a long learning curve to play it right, it's really REALLY far from the CoD series...(thank god!)

good stuff, thanks for the heads-up, I'll check it out.
RO is a bloody good game IMHO. if this kicks a bit of life into it, I'm happy.

Hadn't played since a short while after release.

Got right back in the swing of things, two nice rifle kills while wandering the new map.

Then started getting occasional messages of "Speed Hack detected" .... while I was just walking around. Eventually got banned from the session

So verify integrity of game cache in steam shows up fine - nfi what is going on there. Seems this game is doomed to be buggy? :tilt:
EDIT: Upon reopening it started installing pre-requisites, the culprit possibly.

EDIT#2: ALAS same thing happened. Very annoyed. CBF even looking. Terrible that such a bug can be in the game at this stage. Probably need a reinstall.

That sounds annoying. Yeah, there seems to be enough things to iron out in the game, I reckon.
It's less buggy, runs better, and handles 40-50 players better, but by no means it's bug- and annoyance-free, sadly.

Still, I'm enjoying it - again. ;)

After a quick search, I'm not the only one. And their best suggestion is to go for an ethernet into the modem instead of wireless. Which is not an option especially not just to play RO2. Piss poor really, because how many people are going to be "speed hacking" anyway.

Banned from three servers for the current session. Really flippin annoying because it is playing really well and I just keep getting kicked for no particular reason. :( Best part is it does it when I'm not even bloody going anywhere. Just covering and firing.

That sucks guys, I haven't had any problems at all with the old or new release, but I don't use wireless peripherals for gaming, so I'm afraid I can't help except to direct you back to the Tripwire support forums.

As for the new release? I reckon its the mutt's nuts in FPS.
