Classic ford - 51 custom
Hey Guys,
Come October or there abouts I'm planning on picking myself up a 50's Ford. I've been scouring the interwebs for a little while now but though I might start putting some Feelers out there. So If anyone knows of anyone with preferably a Early 50's Customline (but will consider late 40's Customs, and also the late 50's Customlines, Also Mainlines, Fairlanes, anything blue oval of the Era except T-Birds) for sale.
Ideally I want something ready to Roll, in decent condition. I don't want a half finished project, I would consider a 90% finished project though lol. But I basically want something Original I can use for a year or so whilst I collect the bits and pieces I need to do what I want to do, so when it comes time to do that, I can do it quickly.
I'm willing to travel anywhere in Aus to find this car too. Ideally I want to spend around the 10k/12k mark which is where a couple of tidy, but not great Cusso's are sitting at on various sites, but will be willing to stretch to the 20k mark if the right car pops up
Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if anyone knows of any distant relatives, friends, parents, or enemies have anything like this laying around.
Cheers.

It's pretty much all done speed, it's due for some rechroming and a paint job in the next few years but apart from that she's all good. I'll have her on road as soon as I can get down to inspections to get her cleared.

Nice looking car, What is the end look you are going for?
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.

I have a joke for you. I have a prediction that you are going to walk into a bar, my prediction was wrong and your wallet is gone.

It's in albury, but it's come across from South Africa. Advertised at 15k, got it for 13. Will probably set me back another 3k before I get it in road too.

Re: Classic ford - 51 custom
Not much that needs to be done really. It needs mirrors to get thru rego that's about it. But I plan on putting spats on and whitewalls pretty soon and dropping it's stance a little. Then probably won't do anything until next winter when we'll do the respray I think.Quincy wrote:SWEEEEEETTT!!!

Re: Classic ford - 51 custom
Well yesterday I got her through Vehicle inspections and she got her Aussie Residency. She's now registered.
Got me to and back from inspection no problems but went out for a cruise last night and got 1k from home and 1st breakdown. Managed to push her down the road a bit and suss out the issue. Turns out all the shitty fuel that had been sitting in the tank for the last year had made its way up and pumped a shitload of gunk in my fuel bowl and Pump. So, Flushed that out quickly, went to fire it up and before the engine cranked over enough to pump the fuel through the battery had died lmao. So, Call the Roadside assistance oh yeah!!!...
They come and charged me up and away she went... running like a charm. It was dark by then so I had the lights on, It was then I discovered that my alternator is useless and subsequently led to the car shutting down. Luckily, this happened idling away in my inlaws driveway. So she had a little sleepover last night whilst we charged her up.
Teething problems. I have also discovered the carby is now spurting fuel out all over the shop from one of the gaskets. So, more tinkering ahead.... Loving it though, was nice to get out and take her for a spin at least.

congrats, great to hear
a few problems never hurt anybody and you will no doubt have, and expect, a few.
