That looks fucking great. No idea how it would hold up long term.

Have a mate wrap that wrapped his WRX last week with the 3M stuff. Cost him about 1K for the wrap and knife less tape.
I will get him to email me some pics or if he's doing a writeup will link it.
He told me the life expectancy of the 3M vinyl is 9 years, he was super impressed in how easy it was. The stuff is even breathable so you can massage the bubbles out!

Should hold up fine if not hit.. other then the thickness and backing adhesive and the temp of the days, removable/easy to replace.

Vinyl wrap is the only way to go for car liveries. It's pretty amazing what they can do.
Everything that's not blue on this car is vinyl, and it's very common in motorsport for entire cars to be wrapped.
Shout out to Vilante for this design by the way.

Saw a Lancer just recently that had been wrapped matte purple. For some reason it looked just right and well done. Would be nice to see how they hold up over time under normal road going conditions.

Just like a paint job will, to a point can be cleaned easier also.

It just lacks the depth of paint unfortunately, fricken great for something that will only be seen from a distance, or matte finishes or even I guess bright colours. But you'll never get insane shine from it.
I've been toying with the idea of doing it on my 51 though. I want to do lacing over the roof and vinyl printing will allow for some awesome detail. But I am torn because I want a real deep finish with a metal flake.

The reddit post that went with the pictures above said that 3M (company that made the vinyl) said it would last 3 years. Since it was going to be garaged and only driven on weekends (that his track car by the way), it should hold up a bit longer. Different color car every 3 years... sounds good to me.norbs wrote:

Bloke I knew had a 300zx wrapped matte black. It was done well, lasted a few years but started peeling and having chips out of it here and there after that.
It certainly suits the matte style.
