Reads to me like possible future deals that ended sour, maybe conditions weren't favourable by either party and hence one side got shirty and decided to remove the competition through legal action.
Slightly off topic, I also seem to remember either the MPAA or RIAA (hell maybe another group) pulling a similar stunt a while ago regarding an ISP.
