lol, I was starting to wonder if that is the issue. I've never gone with TPG before... damn them being cheapest service provider in Townsville.

I'm hoping the issue might by my D-Link Wireless adapter. Stupid NBN people reckon the location of my PC and the length of cable that they are allowed to install is to far apart. So they put in another room and now I can't direct connect into my router. I'll pick up a 20m network cable later and see.

Also, at the time of that test, I was putting my net under minor stress.. Steam updates & torrent download at the same time. So far only 1 device connect. But, I've never had that bad of a result under similar load with more devices connected and accessing the net on ADSL 2 before.

Edit:

Currently my download speed is about 340KB/s... my old ADSL 2 connection use to be between 800-900KB/s and I was on the far edge of the exchange.

So I've spent the last 2 hours repositioning the router the best I can, rebooting my PC a million times and reinstalling the D-Link Adapter and trying different USB ports. I even fiddled with the NBN box thingy (fuck it's ugly and big considering today's tech) and checked out the installation wiring. Dodgy arse fucking job - the cable has been stapled to the garage timber ceiling of my place. Some of the stables where too tight pushing to hard against the thin arse cable, so I loosened them a touch.

The result... fucking success... 1.2MB/s download has been achieved which is the maximum of my Tier 1 plan. Gone from timing out all the time and being slow as a fat chick in a cake shop to being what it should have been.... hopefully it stays stable because I got a lot of stuff to update since being offline!

Call whoever did that cabling and tell them to fix it, otherwise you'll report them to the ACMA.

That's bullshit.

I would say that the cable would be busted. Is it the fibre or a cat 6 cable??

The dude should be able to test it for breaks either way

It'd be a Cat 5/6 cable. Either way, using a staple guns fucks it
