Personally, I won't touch any conversions unless it's been given the okay by the original author.

Rips, I won't go anywhere near.

Tks Shaun... Even though I stay away from unofficial & unapproved conversions & rips I have stumbled across them in my travels searching for AC mods.

The worst offender / most prevalent ripper around is a guy called smallblockhero, you'll find plenty of unofficial & unapproved conversion / rips on his blog site.
http://drillsgt98th0.wix.com/actemp
He rips many Forza models illegally, then adds place-marker physics / sounds from other AC cars.
So as many have posted elsewhere these are a bit hit & miss wrt to how they feel, sound & react in sim.

There is also this site which posts just about every mod both AC official & unofficial mods, conversions & rips. http://thesimreview.blogspot.co.uk/

I figure it's each to their own with this sort of stuff. I like the gts it's well done even though I'd say it's 99% an illegal conversion from forza. Some of the cars in the drift page are awful lol. Everything is hit and miss. Definitely a better idea keeping everything apart like this. Cheers for the links Duke

np's Shaun & thanks for separating these from the other "official" mods thread.
Given the vast difference in quality of these "unofficial" mods I think it works better, there's no expectations set or expected for anyone trying them. ;)
I also support freedom of choice so have no issue with them being listed here even if I do/don't decide to try them. :aussie:

As you know I'm not for promoting illegal or unapproved conversions particularly from this guy.
But has anyone tried this & prepared to comment on what it's like? Particularly the physics of each car as I think he's started looking at improving that aspect of his rips.

I tried an F1 car and an Aston Martin from that site. They were shit! A 1950's Aston shouldn't feel planted like modern day car or accelerate like on.

I gave it a tentative shot, all the models are forza rips, they handle ok but are extremly heavy with force feedback and I mean seriously heavy.
They are semi decent but good luck running AI or using interior views with some cars, ran it for 20 minutes and delted the crap off the computer.

I came across this website, after finding photos of the cars online
http://shop.sim-dream.com/downloads/grandprix-1967/

They're charging $15 for it but I already had it downloaded through another source before-hand:
http://assetto-db.com/
Dodgy as shit, the guys are terminal rip-off artists but the cars are good and must be from another mod, I was wondering if anyone knew what game they originally came from?

They look like GPL rip-offs to me... they are very low poly count when you really look at them. But that would be quite a feat given the age of GPL.

They are in breach of copyright here. The conversion is shit and to charge for it, they can be sued.

I just wish someone would build to the standard of the Kunos 49, whether they build more cars from that era of a mod team takes it on. Something legit and something up to standard.

They feel like it Knappo. I remember a lot of the textures especially in cockpits, these are the same but these are badly stitched together.
