Laptops and Win7/8

Post by norbs »

The hard drive in the brides laptop is rooted. Some stuff fell off the shelf on to the computer. ARSE.

I bought a new SSD drive and installed it. Plugged in my Win7 USB stick and the laptop refuses to recognise it, but it works on my 2 PCs. Yes, I have changed the laptop BIOS to boot off USB first.

Is there a chance the laptop will only boot from Win 8? That is what it came with.

Have you tried different USB ports? Some of the work ones refuse to boot from the USB3 ports but the USB2 ports work fine. There maybe other settings in the BIOS that are also hindering you.

As for Win8 only, not from my experience with Win8 laptops, work puts our Win7 SOE on them daily.

Seconding the different usb ports. Maybe not all the ports are running off the main intel chipset.
