Looks like a good lineup. Poor RNZAF - I guess that 757 is the pride of their fleet?

And yet it's one of the most entertaining displays, they give it buggery. They fling it around like it's a small plane. It's one of the flights I enjoy seeing the most every year.Exar Kun wrote:Looks like a good lineup. Poor RNZAF - I guess that 757 is the pride of their fleet?

Very disappointing if it is but doesn't surprise me.Jamo wrote:The Raptors are a static display only! What the everloving fuck???
What shits me is from what I have heard they have been displaying them at Airshows in the US for quite a while now.

Hell no! Open slather. Knock yerself out. Most pro shooters there use either a 100-400 or 500mm f/4. Nikon shooters like the 200-400 as well. I expect the new Canon equivalent will be popular.DexterPunk wrote:JD are there restrictions on focal length??
The biggest limitation is how far you're prepared to lug it all.

I wouldn't be bothered taking the 500. The 100-400 + 1.4x might be easier to work with though. Are you going?

Re: 2015 Australian International Airshow
Not very likely, unless I am sent there next weekend.
I'd love to see those old TVAL replicas though.
It's also a remote possibility that they might be there because of something I said at the last show.

I wouldn't be too bothered taking the 500 i meant.
I tried to see if my mum could get me a ticket... Apparently they don't even give them out to people in the industry for the trade days anymore. Lame.

Re: 2015 Australian International Airshow
Just a few suggestions if you're going to try it:
For helicopters, use the slowest speed you can. 1/60th is barely slow enough.
For props, 1/160 - 1/250 will be fine.
For jets, go as high as you like. 1/2000th is good.

Yeah, I've shot aircraft before. Had press passes for Tyabb a couple of times.
