The base model is US $379 which is AU$540, but it's selling for $659. Obviously each phone is travelling first class.

I think they're just pricing in the predicted decline of the Aussie dollar. It's still got some ways down to go yet.w00dsy wrote:The base model is US $379 which is AU$540, but it's selling for $659. Obviously each phone is travelling first class.

Interested on how good the camera is - my Mrs is looking to replace her Nexus 5 with either the 5x or the new Sony Xperia.Righteous wrote:I've just ordered the 5x for the Mrs, I'll let you guys know what it's like when it shows up, it's saying 3-4 weeks.

The 6P certainly looks like my next phone, it ticks all the boxes of what I want over what the Nexus 5 does, but I don't reckon I'll ever be able to justify the cost if I were to buy outright like I did the Nexus 5, maybe someone will offer it on a plan down the track that I'll find easier to deal with.

I guess the decline in the dollar does have something to do with it but they're meant to be priced in the mid to low range in the US. These prices put them at or just below the cost of flag ship phones here although maybe the next round of flag ship phones are going to be even higher.

The price has certainly stopped me from just buying it because I love my 5.....
I am now looking at other options or just keep running the 5 depending how it runs with Marshmallow

I've been using a cheap one over here called an Alcatel onetouch idol. I came from an old Sony Xperia and I was pleasantly surprised by how not shit it was. It's not a premium phone in any regard, but it's done the trick nicely over here.Brett_S wrote:Interested on how good the camera is - my Mrs is looking to replace her Nexus 5 with either the 5x or the new Sony Xperia.Righteous wrote:I've just ordered the 5x for the Mrs, I'll let you guys know what it's like when it shows up, it's saying 3-4 weeks.
The Xperia didn't have the right bands for the US so I was only getting 2g. F That!

The Asus Zenfone 2 is a good budget friendly phone too.

yeah, I'd considered that, but the Alcatel seemed to have better reviews. I certainly can't fault it for the price and it had the bands I needed for LTE coverage.w00dsy wrote:The Asus Zenfone 2 is a good budget friendly phone too.

Nice! Don't tell me Google have actually listened to the crowd asking for a decent camera in the Nexus phones.

Nice! It would be good to see the comparison at full speed.
p.s. how much storage has that camera got ? I can imagine it being eaten up rather quickly with 240fps video...
