Noisy locals! Give it a rest

URUGUAY was in mourning yesterday after its team failed to qualify for the World Cup, with local media blaming rowdy Australian fans for stopping its jet-lagged players from getting enough sleep.
Dejected workers couldn't believe the result, which saw the World Cup winners of 1930 and 1950 bow out to soccer minnow Australia.
"Really bad, sad," said Andres Izzi, as he began work. "We didn't play well, and we screwed up the penalty kicks."
Uruguay's Observa searched for reasons to explain the loss.
"A pile of things . . . our team finished fifth in a mediocre South American competition, they travelled to Sydney in tourist class and they failed to score goals," the paper said.
Montevideo's La Republica pointed the finger at Australia's soccer fans for making excessive noise outside the Uruguayans' hotel.
"This group had no better idea than to gather at dawn on the day of the game outside our hotel to make noise and sound horns, so that our players did not get a good rest," the report said.
