Re: Dirt 3
Its great fun. Its a perfect mix of Arcade and Simulation (as long as you turn all the assists off). The rally tracks are short (about 1:30 / 2 min long) but its all great. Even the Gymkhana is good fun to thrash around in.
And it looks amazing and runs great on Ultra, even my modest system.
(Sorry for the table breaks )
I love this car and track combo. So much effort to keep it on the road, but its great fun to master.

I like it... quite fun.
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.

Re: Dirt 3
Having a ball with it. Was up till 4am last night thrashing about.
The Gymkanah is sooo much fun, and i forgot how much i enjoyed Landrush & Trailblazer from Dirt2.
Its good that there are more Rally stages in Dirt3 but last night i found a few stages where i was able to attack them at full throttle for 90% of the stage. Was a rush tho.
Im playing with all aids off and hardest ai and they provide a really good fight.
As i said to Madcap, this is sooo much more enjoyable to play than GT5. The cars are more rewarding to drive and throw about. Dirt3 might be a bit more arcadie but its a million times more fun to drive.

PS3 & G25 mate.
Had to turn the linear steering to 0% and it felt a million times better than it did out of the box.

Re: Dirt 3
I gave it a good hiding today with my new G27, however, it just feels like Dirt 2. My poor system takes a while to load it only to have the races finish within 1:30. It IS a good game though and being able to select between the 00's and 90/80/70/60's is a nice touch.

Re: Dirt 3
Same as Knap.. first race was reset a few times to dial in the wheel... pretty much using the same as D2.. feels much better then default.
No Assists, Hardest Difficultly. still beating them by 10secs on rally's.
G25 @900 in the logi profiler.
Steering Sat 50%
Steering Lin 2
And not using the handbrake, like in D2 as it seems to make the car uncontrollable even if only a tap. using more rear bias on the brakes and a bit of a flick for turn in for hairpins.

Re: Dirt 3
One thing I would like to see changed would be the Challenges, being to view what they are before you select the car/team. Though atm i am just picking the one to the right..

Re: Dirt 3
It grew way old, way fast. Still haven't LAN'd with Syn yet, but I multiplayered some races the other night and it was kinda fun. Cat and Mouse was fun. The 1:30 races were OK to start with, but the more you get into it, the more loading you're stuck at.

Re: Dirt 3
This game has some awesome LAN modes, compared to Dirt 2 - me and a bunch of mates had a lan a few weeks back and were all playing it. One of our favourites was "Outbreak" where you all load into an arena style map and someone starts off as "infected". They have to try ram the other players, which in turn spreads the infection. You get points for infecting people, but also for staying clean for a long time.
Another one is transporter, where you have to collect a flag and try take it back to the drop zone. Ramming the person with the flag transfers it to you and hilarity ensues. Good fun
I run a 3.16ghz core 2 duo, 4gb Ram and Radeon HD6970 2gb and it loads very fast and runs smoothy. The game is installed on an SSD drive though which obviously helps a lot. I swear it loads faster than Dirt 2 though.

It's been nice, chaps.

Re: Dirt 3
Sounds like some of the games we use to play in LFS S2.
Might have to give the lan portion a whirl.

Great fun game, decent fun physics.. as mentioned a good balance between sim and arcade.

I agree... I'm really enjoying it. My issues with it are more around not having many rally stages or longer ones! some of the night rallies in norway/kenya are fucking awesome fun! MORE OF THAT PLEASE!!! I'd be stoked if I could actually choose to do a WRC event with at least 5 min stages. On the downside, too much gymkhanna stuff... I don't really have that much interest in it.
