Who pays for repairs in that situation?

The competitor/team pays. One of the hidden danger costs of racing, you are responsible for damage to any property you hit. For example, breaking an airbag at Mallala will cost you $4000w00dsy wrote:Who pays for repairs in that situation?

Re: cool racing videos
Who knows? It's likely that the team will pay at least an excess on a property insurance policy held by the organisers. Alternatively, there's probably a clause on the spectator ticket that absolves the competitors and organisers from responsibility. I suspect Citroen will pick up the tab, even just for PR.GT VIRUS wrote:The competitor/team pays. One of the hidden danger costs of racing, you are responsible for damage to any property you hit. For events in NZ, there is an option at documentation to pay $50 for "fence insurance". In case you spear off into a farmers fence, the insurance will pay for the replacement.

are advised that they will be required to pay up to the first $10,000 of any
claim to rectify such property damage. Crews agree to this excess by
entering the event. Refer Appendix I of the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport for

Re: cool racing videos
Yeah, since it's not clear who pays let's move on to a question that perhaps someone can answer with a 100% guarantee.
Why did he make that little detour through the parked cars, then return to exactly where he ended up when he went off, and then rejoin the track there? Do the rules say you have to go back past the point where you left the track, then can rejoin at any point after that? Or did he just lose track of where he was and head off in the wrong direction, perhaps while debating with his team over the radio who would pay in this situation?

Re: cool racing videos
I've seen a video of someone (Loebe?) complely cutting through a field in the past. You can probably re-join further up w/o a penalty.
I'd say he was looking for another way in (maybe the codriver told him the track bends that way?), but found the carpark too crowded so he turned back.

Knowing Kris Meeke he was probably looking for something solid to crash in to, but gave up and decided to win instead.

Big fail for him then, there were about 10 cars there he could have hit, and missed all of them!
