Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
New wheels to replace my Zipp 101s arrived this morning. Just a little bit fancy I tried taking a quick photo, but black on black doesn't tend to photograph well.
I got a set from here:
http://www.carbonbikewheels.com.au/en/
38mm depth up front and 49mm depth out back. Hopefully all set for the Gran Fondo now

Similar to my MTB, except I put red grips on it recently. Love me a stealth bike, wheels look great.

Funnily, that side is all stealth, the other side the Pinarello lettering is bright red. So it's not completely stealth Just depends on if you photograph it from the correct side, as per the rulesKNAPPO wrote:Similar to my MTB, except I put red grips on it recently. funnily.. according to the power balance numbers coming out of my Vectors, I put marginally more power out on my left .. much to my surprise!KNAPPO wrote:So the left side goes faster then?CLP wrote:Funnily, that side is all stealth, the other side the Pinarello lettering is bright red.

So last Thursday was new bike day. I got in contact with new kids on the block Chapter 2 and the team got a pretty sweet deal. The guys have been rolling around on the new bikes for about a week now and they are freaking amazing. It makes the Propel Feel like a toy!

Cheap Powertap hub from ebay + rims and spokes from Bike24 + couple of hours = new wheel day
Much cycling such kilometers.

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
With Amy's Gran Fondo coming up, Miss V and I thought it might be a good opportunity to try out wider tyres which seems to be the trend at the moment. So we'll move from our usual 23mm to a 25 mm. Anyone done the same?
I've also been trying out lower pressures recently and actually enjoying the improved ride comfort. I just have to get out of my Old Skool mindset of setting pressures by looking at the max pressure label on the side wall

Love low pressures with the exception of commuting to the trail head on paved paths.
60mm @ 20psi

Looking at Wiggle orders, 2014 I started on 25mms. Never gone back to 23mm.CLP wrote:With Amy's Gran Fondo coming up, Miss V and I thought it might be a good opportunity to try out wider tyres which seems to be the trend at the moment. Keep an eye out Carl and you can get GP4000SII for under $50.

you'd probably enjoy CX racing pressuresKNAPPO wrote:

the prices on these are a bit misleading. We got them from 99bikes who have a "club" and "non-club" price. So they worked out to 58 a piece. Still not sub $50 but we needed to make sure we had them on time. What pressure do you run in them Norbs?norbs wrote:

I've installed a set on V's bike and did a bit of a test with some calipers. the tyre on her rims measured (as you'd expect) ~25 mm. my current 23mm tyres on my wider rims seem to measure slightly more. so now considering whether i swap or not :/

Re: Bikey Booty!!!! What you got fool?
I've been really happy with my GP4000s and more recently GP4000sII. Running the 23mm tyres on a wide rim I've been putting the rear at about 90-95PSI and the front at 80-85PSI.nutty wrote:Ive ran the 25mm GP4000SII for almost every km on my bike, wife is the same on her commuter.. It's been difficult to get out of the old school habit of inflating to max-pressure-plus-a-bit-for-luck PSI but i think i've been really happy with the ride quality. I'm actually unsure whether I should bother moving to the 25mm version now :/

only issue i have with it is that it's a little too easy to change the torque setting while tightening a bolt.
