Steam payments in Bitcoin
I saw this on Twitter... (interestingly, still no AUD as far as I can tell)
So asked about Bitcoin payments. Someone replied you can already pay by Bitcoin.
Anyone know how, I cant figure it out for the life of me.

So we can pay with dong or colon, but not with dollarydoos. So gay.
When you choose payment method for a purchase it's in the drop down list. Haven't used it myself but looks like people recommend adding funds to your steam wallet instead of using it for individual game purchases.

Re: Steam payments in Bitcoin
Depending on the bank, you may still pay "overseas transation" charge. Eg I pay this on every payment to Amazon on our server hosting and it's a fucking ripoff too, because it's a percentage!
Even though the transaction is in Aus$ and local, there's something with Amazon being registered overseas, they charge you.
You're best off getting a 28 degrees mastercard, no extra charges, and a very close exchange rate. Use that for steam purchases, like I do

Re: Steam payments in Bitcoin
by the way, if you have solar and a good GPU, there is money to be made.
This is my 1080Ti....
The 1070 isnt far behind. I run them both during the day and it is getting to be very worthwhile.
But day time is free power for me.

Re: Steam payments in Bitcoin
I used some of that PC money to gift Muppet PC2 so you could enjoy his company
Normally what I'd do is buy an older card say Radeon 400 series and save a few bucks. But because of the farmers, they've snapped up all the older cards and affected the stock levels and price of newer cards. Now I have to sweat it out for 11 days and hope Scorptec have 1060 in stock I want. I can't afford AMD as much as I like them.

It is a massive issue apparently. And AMD and nVidia are exploiting it.
Oh, and they are miners Doc, not farmers LOL
My 2 cards have made me well over $650 now. So pretty much as soon as the next ones come out, Im on board.

Re: Steam payments in Bitcoin
Yeah I got lucky when I got my 1080 which was about USD 500, now nearly a year later and they're about USD 800 and apparently they're not even good mining cards. I guess all the mid range cards being snapped up increases the demand at the higher end. It definitely sucks for anyone looking for a new card at the moment.

Nothing wrong with a 1080 for mining. My 1070 has made me a few hundred bucks.

Re: Steam payments in Bitcoin
The price hike is all over the world it seems. Speaking to some people in the US, what I am about to pay for a 1060 would get me a 1080 there.

I go through Scorptec for all my PC stuff. They offer great service, good pricing and a 36 to 40 hour delivery to these parts of the woods.

Re: Steam payments in Bitcoin
I'm no expert, I just read during the ethereum boom that the 1080s weren't a good choice, the middle tier cards were much better once power usage and stuff were factored in.norbs wrote:Nothing wrong with a 1080 for mining. My 1070 has made me a few hundred bucks.
I normally buy stuff locally as well, PCCG or Scorptec but got my 1080 from Amazon US. I got an EVGA card as they honour the warranty even if bought overseas.
