Elon Musk revealed on a press call following the Falcon Heavy launch on Tuesday that the mannequin was wearing an actual production SpaceX crew spacesuit, rather than a non-functional prototype or mock-up. The suit, which the SpaceX CEO revealed last year via Instagram, will eventually clothe SpaceX astronauts flying on board Crew Dragon, the capsule it’s developing to bring real people to space, with a target initial launch date of later this year if all goes to plan.

That booster landing is amazing. Flat out gob smacked that they can accomplish such a feat.
Sounded cool on the video, standing there and feeling that noise would be brilliant.

Space car cruises further than expected towards asteroid belt
THE car that Elon Musk’s SpaceX shot into space yesterday has actually overshot its target and is now rocketing towards the asteroid belt beyond Mars’ orbit.
Mr Musk tweeted overnight that the Roadster had exceeded the red planet’s orbit and had continued towards the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, a more distant trajectory than anticipated, almost reaching the orbit of dwarf planet Ceres.

The problem with the centre core was quite a simple one: it ran out of the chemical required to fire all the engines. If it really was that straightforward an issue that means it was extremely close to being a total success, and it's presumably something that won't take much fixing.

I'm still amazed by it :D

Yeah, like most everything that comes out of Musks mouth it is horseshit.

I'd guess he is really stating the predicted trajectory and also retrofitting a fuck up that would likely be the end of a manned crew into something, somehow awesome!

You are just trolling now arent you Jamo? Everyone is in amazement and you come along and shit on Musk.

Oh, fuck, I just worked it out! Electric cars (that spank most of the dinosaur burners that make you erect) and renewable energy.

Ha, it all makes sense.

Just bonkers! That relanding of the rocket is nuts. Just nuts.

Musk has big dreams but he often delivers!

But seriously, it would be so much better if bikini girls paraded past the rocket before it launched and held banners indicating what flight it was.

He's a scheister Norbs, a modern day John DeLorean. Not to mention a piece of shit human being, just look into the well documented stories of how he treats employees and even friends.

*BUT* That being said I'm thrilled that SpaceX exists and the work they're doing is fucking amazing. The stuff they have achieved with rocketry is absolutely groundbreaking. Thank God the whole endeavour is underway after the deplorable gutting of NASA.

Apart from allegedly treating employees badly, I’m not really seeing much substance to your claims. How do you know that isn’t just the bullshit that all people in the public eye cop? Or a few disgruntled ex employees trying to get back at him? The interviews I’ve heard he comes across as a pretty nice guy.

I love how optimistic and driven the guy is. I love that the battery in SA was pretty much a bet. He’s the real life Tony Stark.

Touchdown!

US space agency Nasa has landed a new robot on Mars after a dramatic seven-minute plunge to the surface of the Red Planet.

The InSight probe aims to study the deep interior of Mars, and make it the only planet - apart from Earth - that has been examined in this way.

The touchdown confirmation came through shortly after 19:50 GMT.
