Little Britain Live

Post by Big Kev »

Went to see this last night in the New Theatre, Oxford.

Bloody brilliant.

Obviously you have to have seen the TV series to get the jokes and stuff and who the characters are.

They did all the well known ones including the vomiting woman and the pissing woman, Daffyd, Lou and Andy, Bubbles, the shop keeper and Mr Man, Kenny Craig, Emily Howard, fat club, Ann and many more!

They did two 45 minute shows with a 20 minute gap in the middle and I was thoroughly entertained for my £27.

My fave bit was Kenny Craig, the hypnotist, who at one point he went up to the front of the stage and asked the audience to look into his eyes, not around the eyes (click) you're under! At the end of the show you will feel compelled to go and buy a Kenny Craig T-shirt from the merchandise stall. They haven't sold as well as the others but you'll want one anyway, 3,2,1 you're back in the room....

The official programmes were a bit steep at a tenner though. Didn't stop me forking out though. I now have a mouse mat with the legend, Computer says no!

Yeah they had Tom Baker prerecorded voice overs doing the talking between sketches while they did the costume changes. At the end he said 'well ladies and gentlemen I have to go now as i'm covered in jism' :D

The full list of characters they had is
Bubbles Devere
Daffyd
Dennis Waterman
Anne
Emily Howard / Florence
Kenny Craig
Lou and Andy
Maggie and Judy (the vomiting woman)
Mr Mann and the shop owner. margaret?...................................................................................................yes! :)
Marjorie Dawes
Ray McCooney
Vicky Pollard
Sebastian and Michael (although the PM guy wasn't there. Tom baker said he was too expensive so the PM will be shorter and fatter tonight!)
The Wicki Woo kids entertainer guy Des Kaye(?)
Ting Tong Maka Dang Dang and Mr Dudwee
Hello Martin it's Linda....
The Computer Says No woman
and the woman who is incontinent

I think that's everyone :)

We're still waiting for Season 3 here in Australia i think.

Never knew Tom Baker was Dr Who. Used to love the show as a kid, surprised my mum never picked up on it and told me...

Strange thing - I love Brit comedy, but Little Britain just leaves me cold.

How can you not know that Tom Baker was Doctor Who. He is THE doctor for 99.9% of fans.

Any plans on bringing this one overseas? The show has quite a following here already.

And yeah, how could anyone not know that Tom Baker was Dr Who - especially after ever watching Dr Who? Bizarre! :tilt:

Well i'm bit younger then you lot, so i was watching it probably thinking Dr Who was a real person and Dr Who was Dr Who.

I don't even know if they've shown the old episodes again so i would have picked up on it if i watched them.

Oh well, perhaps a stupid of the week nomination ;)

Incidentally, there's some Little Britain podcasts on iTunes for free if anyones interested.

I'm just listening to one of them. Couple of spods in a shed but worth a listen :)

EDIT: Now I've actually listened to it, don't bother :D
The guy is so utterly dead pan, even saying things like 'and it was very funny indeed', he'll put you off LB for life. Wonder if it's Mr Mann in disguise!
