Why is it when I want to replace my Android tablet...

Post by smithcorp »

... that all the options have something wrong with them?

My Galaxy Tab A 8" is getting motherboard errors. The Samsung equivalent is apparently 'slow' and the Huawei and Xiaomi ones that everyone recommend have to be bought from some overseas seller and arrive in Chinese language. Every few years its the same story. Its never straightforward.

The Android tablet market is horrible. I haven't owned one since my Nexus 7 developed touchscreen issues.

I was pretty sad when my Z4 died. It was such a streamlined, responsive device. So thin it felt futuristic to use it as well. Shame Sony got out of the market.

Replaced it with a Tab A 8" which was about $180 from JB at the time as S4's were > $1000. If I was buying now I'd probably get an S4 10". They're $730 or so at JB at the moment.

I love my Lenovo Yoga Tab 3, it's strange form factor is actually really comfy to hold, and the stand/hook combo is pretty versatile. I've printed out a couple of hooks that I have around for watching youtube in bed. Plus it has a huge battery life.

For reading or watching videos on the plane or train, my 8" tablet is great. I just wish they were more resilient.
