I had this weird feeling that Vettel feined the mgu-k failure to stick it to Ferrari for leaving him out.

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you finally have enough horsepower.

Too busy trying to appease a whiny bitch and threw away what should have been a 1-2. Expecting Vettel to give up the place after only a few laps was just stupid.

just goes back to how much Seb doesn't care about the Team results and only his own.

I don't think he parked the car, the team on the radio told him to park it.

it was amazingly funny how it happened at the right time to fuck over Leclerc.

Sorry but Leclerc is starting to sound like a bit of a whiny little kid now. Just get on and race. It's these kinds of stupid 'you do this for me and then I'll do this for you' plans that mess it all up. Yes he's very fast and he's likely to beat Vettel next year but it's only his first season in the team and he just needs to keep his head down and let the driving do the talking. Maybe if he wasn't thinking so much about 'talking about it afterwards' he wouldn't have been losing a tenth a lap to Vettel.

Strategy. Drivers. Car.

It seems if you're Ferrari, you choose two of the above and let the third stop you winning championships :D

I don't know what it is about that track but it appears to have negative character. It's the anti-Spa. Has it ever put on anything other than a dreary grey procession? I forget it's on the calendar every year.

I thought Leclerc was going to 'shut up on the radio" in future. That didnt last long... He is starting to make Hamiltons radio chatter look good.
The prospect of Ferrari doing the swap somehow kept me interested, then when Seb went pop it was obvious how it was going to pan out and I fell asleep.

Best part of the race was Sebs comments before jumping out.

“Are you serious? Bring back those fucking V12s.”

Those v12s broke down more than anything else ever! Look at the retirements in 1991!

Soozefest of a race, but not unexpected.. Much like the Australian GP, it has to be on Liberity to force these tracks to build in some slower corners at the end of the straight, never going to get decent overtaking when your taking T1 (or it think its actually T2) in 4th gear..

The thing that gets me with tracks that repeatedly give poor races is that the track owners and Liberty never seem to say ok what can we do about that? Can we make this corner tighter or cut that corner out completely and just make a little corner cut of tarmac and then it'll add a passing place etc. They seem to want to rigidly stick to what they have and then everyone knows it's a crap race and the viewing figures are always down. Seems like a simple fix to me.

I did watch it back and indeed the team told Seb to stop, I guess I was just making a nice story in my head. It was such terrible timing I couldn't quite understand it to be coincidence.

Im sure a 2020 spec V12 would shit all over a 90's era one. Yes they went pop a bit too often but think about how much we have learnt since then in being able to build reliable internal combustion engines. Before 'cost capping' the engine brief was for it to last a single race distance whilst putting out as much bhp as possible. If it died on the cool down lap it was considered the perfect engine.

I remember when people lost their minds over the perceived reliability issues when they started to put engine/gearbox limits in F1. The engineers still managed to get on top of the problem(s) and at the time of the ice's demise, the V8 was one of the most refined engines F1 has seen in my opinion.

Out of all tracks, I kinda give Monaco a pass, mostly cause its the crown jewel and in a built up city.

But no excuse for Melbourne/Sochi and others

Monaco are using the most open areas of the city. Sochi have a huge amount of room to alter the track so there's not much excuse.

Monaco is important for business reasons so I think it's sort of accepted, despite being an utterly ridiculous place to have a modern F1 race.

Maybe Russia is still on the calendar for the same reasons - it's terrible for racing but good for business.
