Tour Down Under 2021

Somewhat expected, but the 2021 edition of the TDU won't be going ahead. :'(

It does sound like there will be a domestic cycling festival held in it's place, so maybe there will still be some fun on 2 wheels to be had

I am still gob smacked that the GTs were and are being held.

from what i gather, the biggest sticking point for the teams was that they would have been required to do 14 days quarantine on arrival, which would not have been ideal. Presumably in Europe they can demonstrate that they are effectively isolated in their team "bubble". How successful that isolation is, is perhaps debatable, or at least variable.

As much as it's a bummer, I think its the right decision all around. Ultimately, it wouldn't have been wise to have a large group of people entering Australia from known COVID hotspots and have them interacting with locals without the appropriate precautions.

I guess we'll see what this local/domestic cycling festival looks like I heard that roller frenzy is still happening

So, it wasn't quite the TDU in all it's glory, but the NRS men and women certainly put on a show. Top marks to the TDU organisers for re-tooling and coming up with an alternate event at such short notice. I headed out to each of the stages, and took a few photos, mostly on my GoPro, and mainly from the Women's races. I'll put a few below from each of the stages
