QF14 Repatriation flight - Buenos Aires to Darwin!

Post by KNAPPO »

Check this out, a real once in a life time flight.
Flightradar 24 playback

Piccies and videos in the Instagram post, slide 6 is pretty darn cool.
Flightradar24 data still has them just under 35,000 feet along Antarctica, so it looks like they were super lucky and had clear skies.

Yeah that flight would have been amazing. QF63 to Joberg has a similar path and occasionally spots icebergs and land as it skirts Antarctica. I've done that flight several times but never quite spotted ice.

That would have been tough. Trying to get enough momentum on the downward bit to get up the upward bit.

Wow, I didn't now they were doing this. Not a lot of options if there's a problem :eyepop:

My uncle's done the Perth-London flight. He said it's not particularly pleasant and basically a case of gritting your teeth and enduring it. He's done it twice though so it can't be that bad :D
