Home GP and good form lately for Sergio, this could potentially be his most heartbreaking race if he's asked to step aside. If the 2 knuckleheads come together again it could be his best.

Slightly boring race but happy with that result. :D

Question: When was the rule changed that the fastest lap point could be scored outside of the top 10?
I thought the rule was "One additional point is awarded to the driver and team with the fastest lap of the race, if they finish in the top 10 positions."

There is, however, a condition for earning the point. Only drivers who are classified in the top 10 at the end of the race are eligible. If you achieve the feat and finish in 11th or lower (or fail to finish), no point will be allocated.

I know this article is for 2019 but I cant find any changes to this rule.

EDIT: I thought Bottas was awarded the fastest lap point but a mate pointed out that Bottas taking fastest lap outside the top 10 makes that 1 point null and void.

We've been spoilt this season which makes these dull races more apparent.

Max was in another league, Gasly showing he's a top class driver again. Weird that the Ferraris and McLarens appear to have swapped cars.

I'm guessing Lewis is not a fan of Mexico. He didn't thank the fans for once, and instead decided to subtly burn Perez by saying the Red Bull was so fast that even Checo could keep up with him. Oof. :D

When he doesnt win, he still gets so much fucking air time. He always looks fucking miserable when he doesnt win. And I love the way he says "Red Bull have a quicker car". Has this fucking goose forgotten about 2014-2018?

He's not wrong though, if Sergio is right behind him then the Merc is struggling. I can't recall him being that close to Lewis all season.

It would have been easier for Lewis to accept losing if his car was a complete dog this year like Schumacher's was in 2005. However it's just fast enough to stay in touch but not realistically quick enough to win the title. And without someone as good as Lewis driving it wouldn't have been in touch either. The Red Bull has been the better car for most of the season. And on top of that, even if he isn't necessarily faster (it's too close to call one way or the other) , I think Max is just more consistent and adaptable these days. He's an absolute machine.

People just love to hang shit on high profile people even when they act like 99% of the population would act in the same situation.

I am pretty sure 99% of the population dont complain like LH does. He got to drive a car that probably 50% of the field could have won races in for so long. Now he isnt in a dominant car and all you hear is him bitching.

When the chips are down you see peoples real personality.

He is a very good driver, I have said that before. He just seems like a trash human being.

I'm more talking about in the heat of the moment comments. Most people would say stuff that like that especially if winning is all you're really used to. It'd be hard to accept not having the fastest car. He's come out and tried clear things up at least. Like I said, I reckon it'd be very different if he was down in the midfield but instead he's only just being beaten and being interviewed straight after he gets out of the car so at his most frustrated.

I'd imagine most of the drivers are fundamentally good people but the pressure at the top affects them in different ways with what they say, how they react and also how they're perceived. See how much Seb appears to have changed now that's he's not in a top team. He also seemed to be incredibly petulant at times but now looks really chilled all the time.

Heat of the moment, fair enough. Max calling people idiots the other day and one of them was Checko. :D

I wonder how much the drivers calming down has to do with them having a family?

Most people here have kids, and I bet you attitudes changed a fair bit once you had kids. Less risk taking, more responsibilities etc.

It struck me watching a clip of LN and DR flicking the poor sexy Spaniard in the balls, just how young some of them are. There really seems to be a set of extremes that I am not aware of seeing in F1 before. 6 oldest and 7 youngest below.

KR 42
FA 40
LH 36
SV 33
DR and VB 32

LN and YT 21
MS and NM 22
GR 23
MV and CL 24

That is a fair old spread of ages. And 6 drivers under 24!
