No room for error, or overtaking it looks like.

What a mess.
On the plus side - winner take all at the final round.

Seems the telemetry showed Max did slow abruptly so a further 10 second penalty that doesn't change the outcome.
Max needs to be less aggressive and Lewis needs to be less self righteous - he used to do the same to Nico.
Only thing more entertaining than the championship battle are the social media comments sections. The one eyed rage from both sides of the camp

Re: 2021 FORMULA 1 STC SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX
Im at the point I dont want either of them to win.
They are both tools. But the fact that we hear so much from Bono the knob and you see Toto having tantrums, still swings me towards RB.
It was all smiles and good times when there had it all there way. This year has been an eye opener.
Funny, there doesnt seem to be a lot being said about LH fucking off up the road and VB stepping on the breaks so they could double stack properly.
That track, as fun as it must be to hot lap, is fucked for racing. I even felt sorry for Mazepin, he had absolutely no where to go.

That race was an absolute shitshow.
The stewarding was fucked, Lulu and Max were fucked and both teams acted like little bitches!
This championship fight has gone from a hard battle to a cat fight in a plastic bag devoid of oxygen for me.
I will not be surprised if the final round ends in the wall at this stage.

I dont really think fixing this shis is hard, and I dont understand why they dont...
I said it a few threads ago, but its simple.
Both the attacker and defender must give at least a cars width room, If you push someone off the track you must give up the place.
If failure to give room causes a contact, instant penalty.
Simple fix

I would much prefer this. I'm not enjoying this new racing which seems to be all about deliberately running your opponent off the circuit. On top of that it seems the race director has no control* and they can't police it as it is now - the penalties are all over the place.nutty wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 12:52 pm I dont really think fixing this shis is hard, and I dont understand why they dont...

It was eventful and gripping but it's not the kind of racing I want to see. It's ugly stuff and has scary ramifications when this kind of behaviour inevitably trickles down to the lower - less safe - formulas.
*maybe it was the same with Charlie and the only difference is we're hearing these conversations now.

I don't understand that argument at all. Max has been getting away with a lot of very iffy driving since he started in F1.
And Lewis has been absolutely battered by the FIA at various points through the years.

Re: 2021 FORMULA 1 STC SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX
I really didn't understand the collision between them.
Surely the sensible thing from the race director is to tell the following car first that they're going to swap places. THEN you tell the leading car to move over. That way the car doing the passing is well aware of what is going on.
Also, I don't understand why Hamilton slowed at all. If Max had an engine/gearbox problem or a slow puncture, he would have just zipped straight by in a heartbeat. I don't quite see why he decided to slow down as well and directly behind him. If there was an on track hazard that there wasn't any flags for surely you would go to the side to see up the track and decide for yourself what was going on. I just didn't get why Hamilton also slowed down.
But my god that track is lethal. I don't know if you saw the big crash in F2. They also ended up abandoning the race with 10 minutes still to go after several safety cars. I think they will have to straighten out some of the kinks to make it safer next year.
Lewis has the momentum now for me. But if Max wins, Hamilton will bitch about it for years just like he did when Rosberg won. He'll drop lots of subtle hints about him being the real winner and stuff like that. I'll try and remember to add a poll for the final race topic.

Re: 2021 FORMULA 1 STC SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX
I thought Hamilton's onboard made it easier to understand his confusion. Max wasn't fully over to one side or the other and was moving around a bit.
I think the other factor was there had been a string of VSCs and so Lewis' first instinct might have been that he'd missed a flag or something was happening ahead. You would not want to go flying past and find a marshal retrieving some debris or something.
I'm sure Max's driving style was a factor too. Generally as a rule, if you're alongside him you should assume you're either going to have a crash or be driven off the track.
The track is stupid though. I watched a couple of the F2 races and it almost feels like they designed it specifically to create chaos. Mazepin's accident was properly scary too.

Re: 2021 FORMULA 1 STC SAUDI ARABIAN GRAND PRIX
Lewis was a little confused, yes, but ultimately they were both playing games with the DRS detection line.
Lewis can't complain if Max wins. Really, if Max loses it puts him (Max) in a similar situation to Lewis in 2016. Lewis was faster then but lost more points to issues outside his control.
