Re: Solar panels.
Are prices on the rise? A family member asked me to check a quote they just got
Sungrow 10kW inverter
27 x QCell 350kW panels
8 Optimisers
"Free" Wifi attachment :P
Total price $22,300 less $4,400 rebate = $17,900 total
Seems very high to me - I thought 1k per kW was on the high side

True that - I suggested getting a few more quotes before committing

This isnt working out for us. $19 for just yesterday.norbs wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 10:55 am I am giving Amber Energy a try to see if what they claim is true.
Probably started with them at the worst time of the year though. Yesterday, my power cost me $13 for the day!
You are basically using TOU, and that can get tricky. Having the oven on (4kW at max) when you get a text saying high prices, is anxiety I dont need

Trying to get back on with origin is proving painful.

"Research commissioned by Energy Consumers Australia, which included focus groups in three states and a 2000-person survey, found 69 per cent of Australians felt positively about the proposed reforms and 6 per cent viewed them negatively. Support was highest among households with large power bills (78 per cent) and those considering purchasing solar panels (77 per cent)."
I find that really hard to believe. Batteries are starting to look more appealing, fuck the energy companies!

I have another company coming to day to give me a quote on batteries. Im getting them now. It might cots me a bit more, but Im sicking of getting screwed over. I am already losing about 20% of my exports because of the high grid voltages.

Re: Solar panels.
Probably the worst time in history to be buying a battery - COVID has massively increased the cost of solar related stuff sadly. The lockdown and home working has tripled our power consumption over winter to the extent we are paying bills again. When our average use was 4.5kw/h per day a battery made no sense, but with some days cracking 10 kw/hrs, it might stack up for that nighttime use of heaters, laptops etc.

Let me know what they tell you norbs - as you know I've been close to getting batteries for this exact reason, changes in policy and charges for solar production.norbs wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:42 amI bet a lot of those surveyed didnt have solar. Re: Solar panels.
it still does my head in that you have such miniscule usage. 4.5Kw/h is an average of 180w all day! 10kw/h is still only 420w average all day.smithcorp wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:47 am Probably the worst time in history to be buying a battery - COVID has massively increased the cost of solar related stuff sadly. Re: Solar panels.
I understand. But 1.5 hours gaming on the PC is the best part of 1kw/h.
Well done anyway, I wish I could get my usage so low.

Re: Solar panels.
I wondered for a while what would happen when there was enough solar generation to make power effectively free. Well, now I know. They call it 'solar waste'. Amazing. Battery time.

Hard to tell at this point until the full monitoring thing is switched on. And I am not sure what the Fronius has in comparison to the Sunny Boy. I also had admin rights on the Sunny Boy
